In new 12-team playoff, top 4 ranked conference champions receive a 1st round bye. So that means, yes, UConn (and Notre Dame) would never be able to get a 1st round bye.

Long over due, can't wait!

It's about time! I never watched much college football (outside of my favorite team) because I always thought their bowls and lack of playoffs was idiotic. I've always loved the FCS playoffs though.

With TCU and USC losing, Ohio St. and Bama are probably in.

I think TCU should still be in. Drop them to number 4, but their first loss in OT to the number 10 team shouldn't put them out.

Almost certainly in, win or lose:
Georgia - makes it, win or lose
Michigan - almost certainly makes it, win or lose... unless maybe if Purdue somehow destroys them. But even they, they probably make it.

Makes it if they win conference title game, likely misses if they lose:
TCU - They're only a 2.5 point favorite over K-State, so this one is a big question mark.
USC - Same deal as TCU. They're only favored by 2.5 against Utah.

Outside looking in:
Ohio St. - Makes it if either TCU or USC loses. Both of those teams are only slim favorites in their conf title games, so probably 50/50 or better one of them loses and Ohio St. makes it.
Alabama - This is where things get dicey. If both TCU and USC lose, then what? I'm sure USC would be out and it would come down to TCU or Alabama for the final spot. My guess is the committee picks a 2 loss Bama team over a 1 loss TCU team, fair or not.

My prediction... Georgia, Michigan, USC win their conf championships, TCU loses.

CFP ends up...
1. Georgia vs. 4. Ohio St.
2. Michigan vs. 3. USC

Looking like today worked out even worse than I expected. We're probably looking at 1. Georgia vs. 4. Alabama, 2. Michigan vs. 3. Ohio St. semi-finals.
