Default Susan Hart films coming to Blu-ray?

I heard through a very good source that one of our favorite boutique labels is about to crack the Susan Hart code and all the films should be restored and released next year.

Susan Hart now owns the rights to 11 movies made by her late husband, James H. Nicholson's company: It Conquered the World (1956) and its 1966 remake Zontar, The Thing from Venus, Invasion of the Saucer Men (1957) and its 1965 remake The Eye Creatures, I Was a Teenage Frankenstein (1957), I Was a Teenage Werewolf (1957), The Amazing Colossal Man (1957), Terror from the Year 5000 (1958), Apache Woman (1955), The Oklahoma Woman (1956) and Naked Paradise (1957).

Great news. Shout or Kino I imagine. We know Shout have the Arkoff AIP films, so it may well be them.

I sincerely hope Kevin Francis (owner of the Tyburn Films library) is next to crack...

I cannot say who it is, but those are good guesses.

This means some of the last remaining hostages for DVD releases of MST3K episodes are finally being released. Great news.

It's almost certainly NOT going to happen, but if, IF, Shout gets the Harts, I wonder if they might finally be able to put out the relevant MST3K episodes.

I'd say there's a great chance if they do get them. Shout have the Corman library and now the Arkoff one (at least under licence, I'm not aware of an outright purchase), so this seems like the most appropriate home for the Susan Hart titles.

Plus it would make sense that Shout would be willing to pay more than other labels because other companies wouldn't be able to release the MST3k episodes to generate additional income from the license.

I hope this is a reputable rumor!

It's hard to say. When Shout inked a deal with with Wade Williams, they were able to do most of the episodes featuring films he owned, but he steadfastly refused to allow the one with Rocketship X-M.

If this is true, I would imagine Shout Factory would be the label in question so they can finally be available in their MST3K collections. I really hope it is true because these films have been out of circulation for over 25 years (literally my whole life). I almost never pirate films, but I confess to doing so for a couple of these because I had no other way of owning them. Itís all because Susan Hart wanted a huge ransom for these titles, and I guess she finally realized that she was severely hindering their commercial viability by continuously keeping them off the market.

I thought that the AIP titles SHE CREATURE, DAY THE WORLD ENDED, HOW TO MAKE A MONSTER (and others) were also under the control of Susan Hart? Is that correct, or not?

So does that mean Shout has the rights to them, per BarnDoor's statement above?

And if so, have they hinted at any of them getting a physical release? They would be ideal titles for double feature releases.

If that's true, then it is indeed great news. These movies have been sorely missing for a very long time.

Is Susan Hart a secret mod, maybe?

As for the above post, Kino doesn't go out of their way either, they mostly just release whatever transfer is available. I'll hope for Shout just because I'm only interested in these to help complete the MST3k collection.

Kino has remastered a couple of hundred titles in the last few years.
