Default Scientists put human gene in monkeys to make them smarter

This seems like a really bad idea. Just because we can do something doesn't always mean that we should. I can imagine corporations wanting gene-edited monkeys and apes for unpaid labor, and then we end up living in Planet of the Apes. Also, it seems unethical to do this to the animals.

I don't think this one experiment will lead to the fall of humanity.

What you call scientific breakthroughs... I call the perversion of the natural world. Dr. Ian Malcolm

That's a stupid thing to do. Who funds this? 'Scientists' should work on the cure for cancer and alzheimer and not playing silly Frankenstein games.

well along that same vein of curing cancer and alzheimer, a Chinese scientist created a pair of human twins who are immune to HIV. so in a roundabout way, the Frankenstein games are doing what you ultimately want them to do in terms of ridding diseases

That may be but mine was just a knee-jerk reaction to the title without reading the article (I don't click links). So I don't know if they mention any useful benefits for mankind with this experiment.

literally anything ever done in human history could be argued that there is a useful benefit for mankind

the real question over editing DNA is whether or not human beings should be altering the genetic codes of other species that took hundreds of millions of years to take shape. evolution is the greatest and most incredible force of nature this world has ever known. to take what the natural world has done and piss on it and start giving monkeys wings, make cats glow-in-the-dark, and create superhumans who are 9 feet tall and are 400 lbs of lean mass, I believe that this peversion of nature that this atheist of 14+ years is something I will fight tooth and nail to prevent. if it ever gets to the point where legislation is passed that allows for the creation of superhumans I am voting for the candidate most strongly against that, even if they are from an opposing party. that is a road that once we go down, we are never going back and the future will be that of identical looking super strong, super intelligent humans who are the most adept killing machines any country could possibly conjure up.

This has been going on for years. They mainly spend their time posting on blu-ray.com tho, so no harm done.
