Maybe it's a pair of shorts with Calvin Klein written on the back of them?

I'd say get the new release and sell off the old set. The documentary on the restoration of the "A" Car is a highlight.

Bit underwhelming to me. Unless they remaster them all in 4k and include all eric stolz material then its a now buy for me.

That would be a lot of material. Didn't they shoot with Stoltz for 3 weeks?

I know what he means, it'd be great to see some actual scenes rather than a few brief shots.

I can see the films are coming back to cinemas for a limited time, but will this be the same DNR versions as the BD?

How about re editing the whole movie incorporating all of the Eric Stoltz footage and any scenes that he didn't shoot they can digitally replace Fox's head with Stoltz's. Or make an entirely new cut where Marty's appearance changed because of time travelling? Maybe a different father? There could be a part where Stoltz's face morphs into Fox's. I've tried putting in emoticons but they never show up once I post, so I'll just say of course I'm not being serious.

But seriously, if they can't do new transfers for these, it really puts the two letters in Back to the FUture.

Such a big fan of the movie. I don't double dip that much but I Pre-ordered this. I couldn't resist the flux capacitor...

I'm sorry to say this, I don't mean to offend anyone really, but reading here many comments of people that will buy this release (even if it is the exact same transfer with the previous one), i guess it's your answer to why studios keep repackaging the same old stuff and selling them.
As long as there are people buying them, they will keep doing it.
If noone bought, they would rethink it to release the same stuff again and we'd have a 4K restoration or something much sooner.

And probably boring as hell, LOL. I don't even think I made it all the way through the clips that have already been shown. It was neat to get a glimpse, but it's definitely nothing I need to see more of.

I don't understand why it's such a major deal today. It was a unique event (on par with Glenn Close overdubbing Andie McDowell in Graystroke), but he clearly was terrible for the film they wanted to make. It's like David Prowse doing Darth Vader - it's funny to see in a clip, but it's not something I need to see every last detail of because it's just god-awful, LOL. And Stoltz isn't even funny in this, it was so morbid and comatose that I just don't see the value in seeing anything more. Especially since Fox was the first choice, anyway.

I think it's honestly because overall the filming of the movies was pretty smooth, it seems - they were just well-made, well-produced, well-acted films once they got the ball rolling.

Well, during late 1984, when Fox couldn't do the film, Gale and Zemeckis screen-tested several actors for the role of Marty. The final two were Eric Stoltz and C. Thomas Howell. From his 2002 interview, it seems Gale really liked Howell's work, but MCA's chairman insisted on Stoltz. He even promised that if it didn't work, they could recast and start over...which is precisely what happened.

Actually, they would believe interest in the franchise has waned, and the likelihood of getting a proper 4k master to have a scan from would plummet.

Flip side of this argument is if we keep buying re-releases of subpar transfers of movies to appease the studios into giving us what we want, they'll get the idea that we're okay with double-dipping on these movies, and they'll be more than happy to oblige us with more re-releases of those same transfers again and again. We have to be made of stone about this. Go ahead and see the out theatrical re-releases to show your love for the franchise, but say no to home video double dips. We have had enough.

Well, studio heads don't see things in lots of shades; to them, its a strict "take what we give you, or go away". Its a cruel mindset to have when your fans are passionate, but that's what happens when you put a Scrooge at the top of any company.
