Just a thought, since the league is going to be just a sim league with the actual teams and roster updates, it might be fun to create something that we all can try to out wit one another via trades, drafts, free agency, etc..

Well, if we get enough interest I'll formally set everything up, but I'm not sure if enough people want to do it or not. I just think it'd be pretty fun.

Well, if we do this, we won't start until Week One of the actual season, kind of like the SIM league.

Well, I guess I'll start putting together some rules and such. Maybe we'll gain some additional interest.

i like how SIM is in big letters.
feel free to copy and paste the SIM league rules then add to them.
SIM league = GML: Grown Man League

i would join but i HATE online trading as it gets out of hand and people make bogus trades. you should think of capping at 3 trades per season or something like that.

good luck!!!

Thanks Don! I'm working on the rules still, but there will be certain rules when it comes to trading. It'll be based on value/ratings... For instance, if someone wants to trade Fitzgerald, who's the highest rated player in the game, they would need to get someone worth a 95 or better in return, or some combination. I'm still working out the kinks on that. Free Agency is also an area of concern, because I don't want people just throwing dumb amounts of cash out at people and leaving others in the dust. Not real sure what the rules will be regarding that though.

Anyhow, I'll have them up some point today, and if you like them you should join up!

I've played in a few SIM leagues when I had my JUNKBOX 360 before I traded it in on my PS3. Here's a few rules that we went by:

1. No hurry up/audible offense. (If your on a drive in the last few minutes of the 2nd quarter and down, or you're getting smoked and down by 28 going into the 4th...sure, other than that you don't run it.)
2. No DE, DT, LB movement to the far outside. You keep your defensive players where they are at. You can move then wide or inside, but you cannot move them far out to rush around that LT or RT for an easy go at the QB.
3. Money plays: If you never run the ball, you don't use Play Action to set up a bomb or run it every other play because you have Randy Moss or Fitz. Mix up your plays and try to refrain from using your basic 5 or 6 plays. This is a SIM league.
4. MICS ON: I've noticed when in a SIM league, if you get someone without a MIC chances are...they're going to use basic "cheese" skills. And honestly, this burns me alive. You can see in the NCAA thread how I can't stand gamers who use these types of tactics just to win.
5. Defense: Nano blitz, press coverage, lockdown defense. Try to refrain from using the same defensive plays over and over again to shut down your opponent. Just like on offense, mix up your defensive play calling. I love the 3-4 and the zone blitz, but you don't run the same blitzing scheme all game because you know that RT can't handle your OLB coming off the edge.

These are just a basic set of guidelines I've seen in other leagues, though there are plenty more as well. Something to build on I suppose.

Thanks for these, I added the defensive player movement rule to the rules. That really pisses me off when people do that, but for the most part as long as we don't have cheesers, that should be fine. Better safe than sorry though.

What are peoples thoughts on the MICS ON rule above? I don't mind playing with a mic on, but I prefer having it off, I tend to think out loud a lot and I've accidently told my opponent on numerous occasions what I'm planning to do lol.

I don't mind the mic rule. We should probably play on all pro as 6-8 minute quarters on pro is going to have some pretty pumped up stats and excessive amounts of scoring.

You're probably right. Maybe even Madden level, depending on how easy the game is. Maybe after the game is out, I can create a poll in there to decide which level to play on between All-Pro and Madden. I have a feeling though that All-Pro should work out, because it seems as though they've added some nice AI updates, especially to the defensive secondary which will be nice.
