My tv has an ATSC 3.0/NextGen tuner and Fox is playing this in the LA area (no prime for me.)

1080p, Dolby Audio, and free.

The first half my picture was all screwed up. Whenever they showed the score, the image was jumbled and showed the Chiefs with the lower score.

1) Chargers Defense is for real

2) Herbert is a real gamer. Still confused by that 3rd down play where I thought he could have slid to the first down...I assumed he was in too much pain to do so?? That 4th Down laser pass to get them near the end zone was amazing.

I found myself tipping my hat to the Chargers throughout that game.

Teams I don't want to play:

Bills and Chargers

Video looked good last night, on par or slightly better than CBS's 1080i and for sure ESPN and FOX's 720P. The audio during the pre-game show was not great and Charissa sounded low, but I think that at least had something to do with her bringing absolutely no energy. I got the spinning wheel of death only once during the whole broadcast and one spot where the resolution dipped significantly.

You bring up a good point concerning audio. Right before kick off when you see and hear Michaels and Herbstreit, the crowd noise was deafening. During the game they turned the crowd noise down to such a level it didn't capture the energy of Arrowhead.

Listening to local sports talk guys that were at the game and re-watched the broadcast last night....it really stood out to them about the broadcast. I was so into the action on the field, I didn't notice it (with the exception of the lack of crowd energy when the Chargers were dominating the Chiefs).

One of the weekly football experts (on the station I listen to) worked on the broadcast and was really impressed with the level of work that went into the broadcast. He said, Amazon was doing mock broadcasts all last week in preparation for Thursdays night. He said they were FULLY staffed on site for an entire week, which you wouldn't see from one of the other networks (who obviously weren't new to broadcasting the NFL).

One thing that always stands out ....Al Michaels is a broadcast treasure.

Absolutely, it was impressive indeed, especially for a first-time produced broadcast streaming to the entire country. I feel like Herbstreit brought a really good energy to the broadcast, it was nice for a change of pace.

I know it will never happen, but could you imagine an NFL broadcast without commercials on Prime? People would go ape****. It would be the most exciting thing in sports.

It would never happen because the NFL would never give up one penny of advertising dollars.

If anything, the commercial space is more valuable to advertisers on Prime because you can't easily flip through other channels during breaks.

One downside for me was not being able to switch to another channel easily during commercials.

Yes that and delays are still the sore spots with prime games.

I already had 4 people ask me today at work what the hell happened to the game last night, when i told them it was on prime only and that they would need to sign on to prime video and create an account and that you would need to back out of the app to change a channel away from the game they all said screw that!

These are all people that actually have prime and use the shipping aspect of it only. They will lose viewers with this change but i guess the money makes it worth it.

Average Thursday night game audience last year was 16.4 million, but 11 weeks were on broadcast Fox.

I'd be surprised if Amazon didn't end up well ahead for the entire year compared to the NFL Network-only games, last year's week 2 scored 7.9 million viewers.

NFL is playing the long game. Right now cable and satellite companies are still the most viable option to watch sports. But 10 years from now, what is the landscape going to look like? It’s not a coincidence the NFL is hitching their wagons to Disney, Amazon, and Apple. They are very aware of how much is going to change in the coming years.

Herbert is a absolute dog. Dude looked like he could barely walk that final drive and still drove it down to the endzone. Wish he was my teams QB.

Not sure how many watched on prime but twitch only average 50k viewers for the night. Not that great imo.

Right and imagine trying to skip around to different games via game "tiles" on Sunday? You'd miss at least a play or two. With DTV, I'm there in an instant, I did it a ton last Sunday with all those close games/exciting finishes.

And they did so in "faux" K which looked good to these eyes.

Yep. That home game against the Bills is going to be crazy. Hopefully week 6 is enough time to gel with all the new receivers. I'm surprised that game isn't primetime.

Though it is the national tv game with nantz/romo & its the only cbs game in that window.
Theres also a small chance it gets flexed to SNF if DAL record is 0-4 when they have to decide.
