Picking up tarantula. Love these old black and white horror films. Might as well get ready for [emoji316].

Wow Terminator 2 is getting a 4K release. 4K is really becoming mainstream and I'm a little worried about having to rebuy my content again (like some did for SD to HD).

I wonder if they're just doing a 4k scan of the printed negative or actually rerendering the effects, because 1992-era CGI is much too low-resolution to look good upscaled to 4k.

4k does not bother me one bit digitally. I won't rebuy anything. I get going from hard copy to digital.

I'm 99% with you on that. I'll rebuy to get it to iTunes for the future, but I don't think I'll rebuy basically anything in 4k besides a very small number of titles that are my absolute favorites.

The harder dilema I think will be when to start buying 4k titles I don't already own. If they do sales on 4k titles at the same time like they do with SD & HD, but they don't make it the same price I'll probably keep buying HD.

For instance, if they put a title at $4.99 SD/HD, but $7.99 in 4k I think I'd just spend the $4.99 HD price still besides on those rare exceptions.

As the final hours of last week's sale roll by, I am still debating Justice League and Justice League Unlimited...especially since they are being pulled from Netflix 8/1, presumably in favor of a rumored upcoming WB streaming service.

I love JL and JLU, but I'm not going to pull the trigger on those, but I am debating on Doctor Who.

Is there a Doctor Who sale I missed? I'm only seeing Season 9 on sale.

That's what I meant. I have S5-S8, so it makes sense to get S9. I'm just wondering if there will be a better sale when the new series starts.

Sorry if someone's already mentioned this, but iTunes (along with VUDU) now has every season of The Simpsons, all of them in HD (they're all widescreen now, so aspect ratio purists beware). Season 1 is $9.99, while seasons 2-28 are $14.99 each (and there's a mix-and-match on VUDU that gives you 2 seasons for $19.99 combined).

Holy crap!!! I just blew away my $300 balance by buying all those simpsons episodes. They finally got these in HD and they brought in the seasons that was not available before. Hopefully they do that for law and order too. Daaaammmmnnn. Finally a good sale I can cross off my list. I think I'm in trouble. Now need some itunes card sales to get ready for the next batch of good sales.

In terms of rebuying, I'm pretty much in complete agreement. I won't be "running out" to rebuy content. However, when it comes to "new content" that I don't already own, then I would look seriously at buying them in 4K. For TV Show, I would likely use the "Complete My Season" option to purchase individual episodes in SD/HD, but complete the season in 4K. Movies would be the more 50/50 options where, if it's on sale in HD only, I may go with the HD, but would otherwise lean towards buying in 4K.

My mental argument for doing it like this, is even though I don't have a 4K monitor or TV, I'm basically "future proofing" my purchases, while still being able to enjoy the content now in 1080P. This is my viewpoint because, years ago, I couldn't watch HD on my computer, so I always bought SD versions of content in iTunes. The result is that I now have a "pretty large" collection of content in SD, and I'm not in any hurry to upgrade them to HD, in part since I'm not wanting to pay full price just upgrade something, that I already bought, into HD from SD.

Goodfellas (Remastered) for $7.99 isn't bad.

What's weird is that for the past couple weeks or so, Batman: Mask of the Phantasm has been gone from the store, so I assumed it would return today because of the Blu-ray. I assumed correctly, and it's only $4.99! But wait, it's still SD-only. Hmm...

Picked up:

The Belko Experiment ($9.99)
Waking Up in Reno ($3.99) *no BD*
Brimstone ($4.99)
The Answer Man ($4.99)
The Yards ($5.99)
Ping Pong Summer ($6.99)
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest ($7.99)

The Simpsons S1 ($9.99). Thinking about getting some more seasons but need credits. Why can't they do them at $10 per season like that deal VuDu has?
