I could tune in and watch Starship Troopers every week.

But television is terrible. I wish we had serials. Maybe six-ten episodes of Marvel and DC per year, at the cinema, and you never know what hero you're seeing until release date.

Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World and Gone Baby Gone are both based on novels that came from a series. There's lots of material to work with.

Did you guys read the OP or just the thread title? No one is talking about TV series. It's what should have gotten a series OF FILMS.

The Golden Compass. If its wasn't for studio meddling, this should have been the next big thing in fantasy adaptations. If they would've went by the book, the cliffhanger just screams release the sequel ASAP, but of course with all the tweaking, the final theatrical impact wasn't as strong as it could have been.

Prince of Persia. I thought the movie was one of the best game to movie adaptations and I found it really entertaining. The movie covered only 'The Sands of Time' game, the first of a really good game trilogy.

Also, Van Helsing could have been a solid "monster hunting" franchise IMO.

Leon / Matilda (raw style of tv show think shield/wire, not glossy flashy tv series)

I know Nikita is sort of the same theme/universe but not a huge fan ....i tried.

I am sorry that Kevin James shot his wad in Mall Cop.... I thought that the ongoing trails of his character would have been fun to revisit a few times.

But his over-the-top "Die-Hard" version didn't leave any room for a sequel, imo.

Too bad.
