I'd gladly buy both of them but I've seen way too many reports that The Abyss and True Lies are coming to Blu-ray for over a decade that I don't believe any of them anymore. The same applies to Panic Room.

You really aren't up on streaming are you?

Most households have a core set of services: 1 or 2. And they also have 3 or 4 that they watch for a few months then cancel. Then they pick them up at a later date when new content stacks up.

Should we discuss all the AVODs that are free? Don't bother playing the "I don't want ads" card because AVODs are immensley popular. People will have anywhere from 3 to 5 and they cost nothing.

Thanks for that. I have the Blu-ray of Pulp Fiction but was a bit undecided whether or not to buy the 4K disc. This and Jackie Brown are my two favourite Tarantino movies.

Me too. For me The Abyss would be a no-brainer - a Day 1 purchase.....and I don't care how much it costs.

Jackie Brown is often under appreciated. I hope it gets a 4K disc release, too.

Yes, I agree with you. Even the very first UK (Region 2) DVD release of Jackie Brown back in the late 90's was bizarrely on a double-sided "flipper" disc, yet Pulp Fiction, whose DVD release was around the same time, was a single-sided dual-layer disc.

I'm probably going to get shot down for saying this, but I never really enjoyed Reservoir Dogs, despite this being a well-known early Tarantino movie.

I think you're safe.

I just dissed all but one of the Star Wars spinoffs and most of the MCU and I'm still standing. Of course, I didn't do so in their respective threads where my opinion would probably be far less tolerated.

I was getting a bit worried whether I did the right thing saying that, I must admit.

As for Star Wars, I have only ever seen the original trilogy - haven't seen any of the films that followed to be honest with you. I've always enjoyed Star Trek however - seen all the movies many times over and never tire of them. I adore those films.

You should always feel welcome to state your opinion, especially being the gentleman that you always are. If anyone has a problem with opinions that they dislike, the problem is theirs and not yours.

I have always preferred the Star Trek movies as well. I feel that the main characters are better developed and therefore that they and their exploits are far more interesting.

I am well aware that they are immensely popular. Many people obviously don't value their time.

If you think that doing something you don't want to do in order to get something else makes it free then everything is free. All you have to do is work and you'll get free money.

I've been trying to go through my hundreds of posters and ran across my full set of 8 Jackie Brown theatrical posters. One of my most prized poster sets. Great movie too. It grows in my esteem each time I watch it.

JK, though Reservoir Dogs often trades places with Pulp Fiction as my favorite Tarantino movie. But I can see how it wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea so no vitriol from me. Everyone's tastes are their own. And to prove it, I will share that I love the Ben Affleck Daredevil movie. Let the hate fly!

One of my favorite quotes and a philosophy I completely subscribe to is from a book by David Thompson called "How to Watch a Movie." Not the best book in my opinion, so I wouldn't go hunting for it however.

The quote is "You only get to see a movie for the first time once."

If I spend money on a disc and it only goes in my player once, it was still worth it to me to have it be the best presentation possible for that one time.

I would add to that quote tv shows as well, since I seem to be buying them on disc more and more lately.

I absolutely agree. It amazes me that there are still millions of people who would rather watch movies and TV shows that are full of ads instead of spending a few dollars. That would absolutely ruin the experience for me and take all the joy out of watching everything.

I would also add Batman V Superman and Zack Snyder's Justice League to the list of great Ben Affleck movies.

Have several movies that I like to re-watch because I like the movie and it has a good sound track with standout music, IMHO - The Bounty; Blade Runner (Vangelis), Dark Knight trilogy; Pirates Of The Caribbean (Hans Zimmer), Romeo Is Bleeding (Mark Isham), Cat People (Giorgio Moroder) and several others.

At their new rate ($11) that 45 months of Disney Plus. Not only do you get the 50 movies you like, you also get the hundreds that exist today plus the next almost 4 years worth. Then you have the TV shows you can't buy. And maybe you will broaden your AV appetite and look at Nat Geo's offerrings.

So to wrap up, it's more expensive to buy the movies than it is to commit the same money to Disney+. And what about all the new movies that will come in that 45 month period? More cash outlay to own them. Included with your subscription.
I have wondered for a while if it would simply be cheaper for most people to buy shows rather then subscription services. For example you could buy game of thrones the complete series with little effort for like 80 dollars (way less used I guess since i see it on craiglist near me for 25). Watching game of thrones would probably take most people 4 to 5 months which streaming would work out to 75 dollars. But the person who bought the series owns the series and can either re watch the series or resell series which brings down the cost significantly.

Perhaps they want to watch gotham when it was on netflix. The complete series cost 25 dollars at one point and netflix premium costs 20 dollars a month these days. You would need to watch 100 episodes in less then a month for it to be cheaper to stream gotham then to outright buy it and again that is ignoring the used and resell market of physical.

People only have so much time in the day I doubt to many people get that much value out of streaming services when you look at what they watched in a month.

I would say the vast majority do not view like the enthusiast here, while the content is playing they are involved in other activities so ads do not bother them.

I hate that I have to pay for ads because every product that I buy has a percentage of the cost of that product going to advertisement.
