^^^ Netflix used to offer a library full of cutting-edge shows and movies. But now it has introduced ads and is producing more bland, mass-appeal shows — just like cable. A lifeline for physical media? Kirk Bayne |

Well, I have to give Steedeel credit.
I never thought the streaming companies would introduce ads in their programming, yet here we are. I'm curious how this is going to play out. Will the ad-free tier disappear in the future ? |

Instantly grateful I have content without ads.
I just read Xbox is looking ways to show more ads. There is almost nothing worse than having to resort to trying to use a Microsoft product and then you want to kick these people while they are down? People who have money just never feel like it's enough so you won't be able to do anything soon without ads. The future is ad supported and also there's nothing there but ads. It's all ads. Work hard and strive so that someday you may be able to own an ad or be one. I also read content creators are resisting digital distribution that can be vaporized with a push of a button. The content creators will keep theatrical and physical for as long as possible. Last edited by bhampton; 12-16-2022 at 02:17 PM. |

As long as there are people who hate ads, both will exist imo.

The golden age of the streaming wars has ended (here).
As always, the more things change the more they stay the same. I agree but will the streamers raise the prices so high for ad free as to make it not worthwhile for some of us. Sometime in the future I suspect the “Cancel Anytime” option will get buried somewhere in your account settings. |

As for the raising prices, I honestly think there will be far fewer streaming services in a couple of years. I think households will pay for just one ad free and save with the ad supported elsewhere. |

Ad supported should be free.
That's a system that works. The new "pay me for these ads" strategy is going to be interesting. Magazines have ads so I guess it isn't really new. I didn't ever realize when I was young that Mad Magazine never had Ads while the original creators were in charge. (until a friend told me then I realized.) |
