Which cause Steel is in England I should explain. Capitol records distributed the Beatles albums in USA. Capitol liked 5-sided records and NO EP's, so most of the Beatles catalog of songs in the states were released in different order....its why Capitol had more Beatle albums than what they released in England. Anyway, the Hey Jude album had "Rain" "I Shudda Known Better" "Can't Buy me Love" & "Paperback Writer" ...songs released in England yrs before, along with "Old Brown Shoe", Ballad of John/Yoko" "Hey Jude" "Revolution" & "Dont Let Me Down". These were either singles not on an album, or B-sides, or the earlier songs were only on the soundtrack of "A Hard Days Night" which was a United Artists release. American record companies were, and still are f'd up! |

My point is ANY art form, not accepted by the masses initially, will somehow, someway, find an audience. It may be small, or become immense....but there will be an audience. |

I really liked cassettes. I had a ton of em, the problem is their sound also degrades over time.....and if you keep it near a magnetic field.....whoops!
Dolby B & C NR, I remember I had a Nakamichi (sp) tape deck that was awesome. Lasted me 20 yrs. When that died I swore off tapes forever. A lot of my pre-recs I had to repair cause I would always loan to my fr......borrow the.......I lost a shitload of tapes! |

If anything, TV imitated Hollywood, not the other way around. The movies had 3-D...and killed it......before TV ever did. Same with stereo sound. Fantasound. For Fantasia. I guess that's before your time. TV didn't have that till 1980. But TV DID kill one market.....the adult movie. For every 3 family-oriented large screen theater, there was the seedy, former stage-show-now-XXX-showcase-moviehouse. Last time I went to an Orioles game in Baltimore, there was still one near the stadium...maybe its gone? But from Pa. to Maryland, that was the last one left. Saving Ryan's Privates has become a strictly in-home experience. see, society CAN evolve! |

Mod Note: I've moved the vertical video discussion to this thread in the Movies section of the forum, lest it derails this thread from the actual topic at hand.

It has no relevance to Physical vs Digital, so no. Post in the new thread if wish to continue down that path.

I bought two movies today at my local Best Buy: Marrowbone 4K UHD and Upgrade on blu-ray.
At my local store, they still had three full length double-sided rows of movies on all disc formats in addition to a large four-sided new release display at the store's entrance. There was also a special display for the latest Avenger movie, two other stand alone displays with recently released popular titles, and two dump bins with deeply discounted titles: one for blus and one for DVDs. At my store, located in a small city with a population of just 26,000, it is business as usual in the movie department. ![]() If anyone needs to call to verify, just ask. ![]() ![]() |

Your posts on this topic were just moved; they were not deleted nor were they banished to Siberia.
It is possible that your topic will now be discussed by a wider audience, or, at the very least by different members than those that frequent this thread. How that audience responds to your predictions is an entirely different matter; brace yourself because the early polling does not look favorable. You have an opportunity to share your ideas with more people in any case. It does appear that the title for this new thread was chosen for you; if you prefer something different, I bet the moderator would consider your preference as a courtesy. You did this earlier when we had a convo on the Castle Rock thread, because YOU thought we were discussing physical vs. streaming quality, when we in fact were NOT. The discussion was rather IF & WHEN the show would get a Blu ray release and until then was LIMITED to viewing only via HULU. In my professional opinion, you are either involving your bias in issues which do not involve or concern you...or wish that those who participate cannot stray to a meaningful topic which involves the thread we are discussing. If this is going to continue I insist that you remove my name from the blu-ray.com roles and close out any portals in which my inquiries lead to these forum discussions. Thank you, good day & good bye! |

Does anyone notice that a lot of Blu-ray discs no longer include a DVD? Why did they stop doing this? I liked buying the BD/DVD/Digital HD combo packs because then my parents would pitch in some $$$ to take the DVD and I would keep the Blu-ray and Digital HD code.
