Default Best Horror Movie Franchise

Vote above. Please specify if your vote is "other." What did you vote for?

I voted for Halloween. A lot of the movies in the franchise are bad, but I watch them every year around Halloween time. John Carpenter's Halloween is easily my favorite horror movie, and in my opinion, the best.

May the best horror movies win.

Universal's Frankenstein series -- particularly the first 3: Frankenstein, Bride Of Frankenstein and Son Of Frankenstein. The first two are genuine classic films, among the best in the genre, and the third is certainly fun.

Beyond just the Frankenstein films, I'd say Universal's entire Original Monsters series by far the best Horror franchise.

I wanted to vote Romero's Dead movies, but that would only feel right if we were talking about the original trilogy. If that were the case it would be the best by far because two of the best horror movies ever made (Dawn and Night) are in that franchise. With the lackluster three that have come out in the past decade though, it's tough to go with that.

I went with the Evil Dead franchise. All four movies are on average good to great and at the very least entertaining. Unlike all the other franchises there isn't a movie in the series you turn your nose up at.

Alien and Evil Dead are probably the most consistently good ones, in the end I went with Alien because I'm a bigger fan of that.

I went with the Romero films not just because the first two are among my all-time favorites, but because they started the undead/flesh eater genre that is just as popular today. I too am referring to the first three films only.

Since the poll is for "franchise", I picked Saw; it's the only franchise where I actually like all the movies. Halloween 1 & 2 are great, the rest, not so much. Alien is a classic horror, but Aliens is a sci-fi war movie. Psycho is one of the greatest films ever made, the sequels are entirely unnecessary. And so on. Thus, Saw.

As far as horror movies franchises goes, the Evil Dead, Friday the 13th, and the Romero "Dead" movies are the most consistent, the other franchises have one or two entries that are arguably better then let say the entire Friday the 13th series. I love Halloween and Halloween III: Season of the Witch, but there are some real duds in the Halloween series. Texas Chainsaw Massacre is one my favorite horror movies, easily in my top five, but do any of the sequels measured up to it? Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 is a great movie, but it like comparing apples and oranges. For me, a good franchises have the most consistent quality.

Alien is a tough franchise as I only think the first film was a horror film.

I went with Final Destination as I like all five films and watch all of them the most out of all those horror films listed. I also love the Tremors franchise, but that's more comedy-horror.

Picked Halloween has always been a favorite. Alien is the better franchise but to me its not a horror film. Tho it does have horror elements.

Although the original Halloween is a better film, as a franchise I'd probably pick Child's Play. The only one I really don't like is Seed.

Scream just barely over Alien. It came down to the weakest link in each series, and in my opinion, Scream 3 was less of a disappointment than Alien: Resurrection. But again, just barely.

Scream by a hair over Friday the 13th. Nightmare on Elm Street and Halloween have never worked for me.

That's not really a trilogy. That being said, I enjoyed all three quite a bit. Even the newer prequel.
