My vote.

Halloween has the coolest theme song as well.
I don't remember anybody singing apart from Mr Sandman in the sequel.

The only thing which is a song is a piece of music someone sings on.

The third best theme music, after The Exorcist (huge Mike Oldfield fan) and Halloween:

And just for fun:

It's a tough one. A lot of horror film franchises are inevitably split between great films and weak ones. The Elm Street series begins and ends well but there's some dull entries in between (Freddy's Dead is honestly one of my least favourite films ever) and the Halloween series isn't much different. Hell, I'd say the only truly great sequel was Season of the Witch.

I'm tempted to go for Alien but then I've only seen the first four and Prometheus - I never bothered with either of the Alien vs. Predator films. For what it's worth, I think the first three are fantastic and Prometheus is a lot better than the its reputation online would suggest. Resurrection's the weakest one of the bunch but it has its moments and is entertaining enough.

I'm torn between The Evil Dead and Saw. The former contains two of my favourite horror films, but I've never been a massive fan of Army of Darkness. As for the latter, I watched all seven films earlier this week with my other half. I'd seen 1-3 before but it was my first time seeing the rest and I was surprised by how consistent the franchise was in terms of quality. The only one I didn't care for was the very last one.

Screw it, I'll vote for Saw. Besides, when I think of 'franchise,' I think of a long-running series and a trilogy wouldn't qualify.

The proper term would be score.

Score is generally the term for all the non-song music composed for the movie as a whole. You can refer to the music in a certain scene as being part of the score, ex "the score is especially good in this scene." It's also a verb, ex "he scored the scene with bagpipes in the style of John Cage" or something. "Soundtrack" would be the score and any songs used in the movie. I forget how diegetic stuff counts, probably also soundtrack.

The first scared me so much (normal babies still scare me), but the second and third are ridiculous. Similar to the Pumpkinhead franchise..first is great and then boom.

I thought the second was great for the sheer amount of ideas in it. I really liked the rights activists and the mobile clinics with steel cages, etc. it kinda falls apart in the back half but it's a solid movie and way more ambitious than you'd expect. The third's not as good but Moriarty is great in it and again it goes weird places, ex the psychic, adolescent mutants taking everyone on the boat prisoner and eating them!

I need to watch these again, it's been a loooong time.
I didn't realize they had a triple feature on DVD!

I can't think of any that have made it past three and still had me interested. What's interesting and scary gets turned into a kiddie friendly franchise (Nightmare on Elm St), beaten into irrelevance (Romero), reeks of desperation (Hellraiser) or ties itself up in self-referential smugness (Scream).

I think Halloween has the most "quality" movies out of the bunch. 1-4, 6, H20, RZHII. And I really enjoy 5!

I went for the franchise with the least amount of crap entries which Imo is Paranormal Activity. Although I vastly prefer Halloween and Friday the 13th, there are too many terrible entries in those series that bring the average down.

My safe answer would be The Evil Dead trilogy, BUT I think I love The Mummy flicks. The first is an absolute classic with Karloff, but after that the rest of the sequels from the 40's throw continuity and logic out the window, but they were damn fun and unabashedly entertaining. Plus, the '99 remake was great too.
