Tool to keep track of your Vudu collection:

If you lose title/titles there may not be much you can do. But at least you will know what titles you have lost.

I keep track by writing the date redeemed/vendor on my code slip that comes with the bd. I keep all my code sheet's.

I'm relatively new to the digital world and only really started getting into it about a year ago. Why this makes me nervous is UV kept your digital collection "free". Your collection was stored in a "locker". You then used another service to access your movies. So, say Vudu one day decided to charge a monthly membership fee to access playback of your collection, then you'd just go to FandangoNow or Amazon.

Now?

It seems that it's going to eventually be only Vudu vs. Movies Anywhere vs. iTunes. You have to be worried then that it's only a matter of time before Vudu or Movies Anywhere begin to charge monthly fees to access your collection there.

Not having a central locker system that connects to multiple retailers is not good. Well, I guess there is one place that does that now - Movies Anywhere. They basically came in and buried the competition. Lack of competition is a bad thing.

Look at my signature. I have a spreadsheet where I detail where every digital movie I have came from. I have seven from Target Ticket, two from CinemaNow, and two from Flixster. The Target & Cinemanow ones have remained on Vudu after they went away. I suspect nothing will change there.

Now if they do go away because of this, none of them are world beaters for movies, so I won't lose any sleep if I lose those ones.

Er, there's Vudu as well.
What in the U.K aswell? It wasn’t one of the options when I logged into my Ultraviolet Violet account just now.

I think most of the people getting "burned" are people who got their movies from retailers other than VUDU. Retailers like Target Ticket, CinemaNow, and Flixster.

Sure, there are are some with multiple sub-accounts (not referring to people who share with family), but if they got titles on VUDU that imported to UV, those titles should be fine. It's the titles/resolutions NOT on VUDU that will burn people.

I do agree that it won't affect most people, but I don't think it's the same people you do.

If you use Chrome, there's also the Vudu Catalog extension. It works for Google Play, Vudu, FandangoNow, and Movies Anywhere. Just go to your movie/TV library page for each service, click the blue VC button and it generates a detailed CSV of your library.

For Vudu you have to do your movies and TV library separate. It's easy to use & doesn't require giving out your password. The only downside is that FandangoNow takes forever if you have a huge library.

So should we start redeeming our UV codes? I've got a pile of them, it would be nice to know if they'd be useful when we get a decent UK provider.

I don’t think we have Vudu in the u.k.

Who knows, even when I’ve redeemed codes on Flixster some titles don’t have playback on the app. I’ve even tried selling new codes on eBay but it doesn’t let you now.

A lot of people redeemed codes on Flixster in the US because they were the only entity to have a functional customer service system.

Sorry if it's been answered - if my UV movies are already in MA or Vudu, do I need to worry about losing any of them? (Some of them have also ported to iTunes via I think MA.)

It won’t be long before it’s all defunct. Makes me wonder why they still include codes with blurays etc. Hopefully this means we are moving towards movies anywhere in the U.K.or whatever it’s called. Digital is a waste of bloody time at the moment because providers are slowly shutting down. We’ll have to download our movies onto our tablets if we want to keep them!
On mine, 5 retailers remained: FandangoNow, kaleidescape, Paramount, Verizon FiOS & VUDU.

Before MA, there was only Ultraviolet. After July, there will only be MA.

There really wasn't such a thing as competition other than for what, less than a year?

Ok, thanks, I just wish the U.K would sort itself out. If Flixster goes we are buggered. At least in the states they have vudu, Hulu and movies anywhere. We’ve only got Flixster left. But I can’t get playbackmof all my movies in that app though. I do have a small amount of films in my Rakuten app. They were moved to there from Talk Talk (used to be Tesco). I lost a shit tonne of movies when that happened. Rakuten is not one of the retailers that I can link to in my Ultraviolet account though. Strange.

We haven’t got the option to link any movies to iTunes in the u.k.

Maybe the films I redeemed were through talk talk rather than Flixster. Can’t remember.
