I wouldn't jump for joy about getting a shipping notification just yet - it's only the 2nd. I got a status update for House By the Cemetery from Diabolik and that one is still 3 weeks out (Edge of the Axe comes out a week later). I remember Diabolik sending out notifications for Robocop back in November and they were nowhere near ready to ship.

Same here. I was not prepared for it to ship this early, but it's a welcome surprise.

Mine was actually accepted at the Post Office already, so it's legit going out.

I'm expected to receive mine from Diabolik on Monday, 1/6.
Official release date is 1/28, so I am pretty psyched getting this so early.

Not too bummed that I missed out on the slip since it looks like the art is duplicated on the reversible sleeve, no? It's a nice slip - looks like the back of one of those VHS rental tapes from the 80's.

Yes. The slipcover art is duplicated on the sleeve.

I will buy the standard version of this. Remember watching the vhs. All I remember is 2 guys singing "Maria", huge trees/beautiful scenery at times, car wash, a bar reminiscent of gates of hell and painfully dated computer communication.

I just ordered the standard non-slip edition from Diabolik and am hoping it ships out early too. I have only seen a few of Larraz's films, but I count myself a fan—I purchased Symptoms and The House That Vanished on Blu-ray (both as blind buys) a few years ago and loved them. His movies are extremely atmospheric, which is one quality I appreciate in film more than probably anything else. I don't own Vampyres, but I've seen that as well, and the same is true of it.

As far as Edge of the Axe is concerned, when I read "slasher set in Northern California" and saw stills of the killer, I was all in. I doubt I'll be disappointed.

Diabolik seems to be out of stock at the moment but they expect to receive more stock by mid-week. I also ordered Deadly Manor. I think I might enjoy this one a bit more. We'll see.

Do you mean the slipcover edition? The standard edition is listed as "coming soon" at the moment, while the slipcover version is "out of stock." I didn't bother joining the waitlist on the slipcover edition as I don't really care much about whether or not I have them. At this point, they are almost an annoyance for me—I always remove them, flatten them, and store them away.

I agree with you about this one looking more enjoyable, or at least for my tastes. Deadly Manor looks rather goofy, but I might have to check that one out as well.

The slipcover edition was a Diabolik exclusive but they sold out of it almost immediately when the preorder went up last year. The standard edition is the only version available but they're currently out of stock. Not sure why there's a waitlist for the slipcover version - as I understand it, it was a limited pressing. I'm not too bummed about missing out - if the quality was going to be anything like the Scared Stiff slip (another Diabolik exclusive), I won't be missing much. It was very thin, almost paper-like.
