Actually they released Akira on Laserdisc, but that's the only one I can think of.

I don't expect them to do any in the future either. There just aren't that many anime movies to begin with, and even fewer that are available (most Ghibli, I.G. and Madhouse stuff is taken) and would fit the bill. Maybe something like Angel's Egg.

^ Nice to hear all those official! Will definitely get FMA, xxxHolic I'll have to rent, and still need to watch my Tsubasa S1 blind buy. Maybe I'll start that today.

Great News!

But where is the April lineup? Besides D Gray Man S1 P2 being pushed back to April...

Thats whats stopping me from buying a lot of anime on Blu-ray. To many upconverts, DNR disasters and lack of lossless Japanese audio tracks.

It more then likely will and might come as a double feature again just like it did on dvd with the Tsubasa movie but I think Funimation is more concerned on releasing season 1 1st of xxxHolic, and as I mentioned it's got a new release date for May. So it's going to be at least by Summer or Fall before that happens.

I've been in the mood for Eva recently and popped in my End of Evangelion dvd from Manga. What an abysmal transfer, it looks like VHS.

With ADV kaput and Manga no longer owning the rights to End, I hope some picks up this franchise. Though we probably won't get a remaster until Japan does, and they'll probably tie their blus in time for the last new movie

April is pretty much Funimation's re-release month on dvd such as When They Cry season 1, Blade of the Phantom Master (S.A.V.E. Edition), Jing King of Bandits: Seventh Heaven (S.A.V.E. Edition), Pumpkin Scissors: Complete Collection (S.A.V.E. Edition), Str.A.In. - Strategic Armored Infantry: Complete Collection, and the only confirmed Blu-ray is just the D. Gray Man. But of course as always these can change any day and maybe a release that should be out in March might get delayed till April just like D. Gray Man.

Hey,

are there any news regarding a Blu-ray release of:

Michiko to Hatchin (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLSagfaeoRA)?

I love what Manglobe did so far, and would relly like to see that one too!

In Japan it's been out on Blu-ray for almost a year now. As for America I haven't even heard of any dvd plans yet much less Blu-ray or even a licensor.

Stereo mixes are still quite common when it comes to anime. In this case, the original Japanese mix of Michiko to Hacchin is 2.0, so you're not really missing anything. They could have done a cheap upmix to 5.1, but these rarely sound any good, so you should probably be glad they didn't mess with it.

And at least you're getting it. It doesn't seem like anyone is interested in even releasing it on DVD in English.

Yeah same here. Plus I've never been a big fan of Funimation....mostly crappy titles, awful looking DVDs, etc. Their Blu-rays seem to be hit or miss..mostly miss with that DNR garbage..

The real Geneon/Pioneer is long gone. Bandai doesn't do much anymore..
Mangle is doesn't do much in the US...

There isn't many series from Funimation I don't like but that's just me though I will say ADV and Geneon did have better ones.

Geneon had it coming to them though. Like for instance everytime i'm in Best Buy I would see a price tag on a Geneon/Pioneer dvd for like $30 and then have like a Funimation or an ADV dvd next to it for $20. Even online I could never really find a good deal on a Geneon dvd. Plus they would usually do like 7-8 dvds for each series that had 26 episodes and that's a lot of money. When Geneon would make a complete collection they just use the same starter set box but just put all volumes inside and charge you pretty much the same price as buying them seperately.

So basically Geneon was a great company and released great anime series in America but their way of doing things just can't be done in America. Maybe Japanese could deal with it no problem but Americans can't. Even Bandai Visual you can't charge Americans the same price Japanese pay on dvds or Blu-rays which is probably why in America they fused with Bandai Entertainment.

NABARI NO OU BLU-RAY Removed From Release Schedule
Posted on: Monday, February 1, 2010

The Blu-ray edition of Nabari no Ou Complete Series Part 1 has been canceled, and all pre-orders will be adjusted to reflect this change. FUNimation plans to release Nabari no Ou on Blu-ray in a different configuration on a date to be determined.
