Honnemaise - yes, better than any DVD, but I'm not too happy with the pillarboxing. At the premium prices I expect something better. But with anime on blu ray it is a case of beggars can't be choosers...
Yes, the box is sitting funny on my Blu-ray shelf as we speak, but considering it was released at the beginning of the Blu-ray format I'm not complaining. I had a lot of trouble opening it emotionally because it was so damn hard to track down. I debated for 2 weeks! Being a collector and a fan of anime it was a struggle. Now I'm Only missing 2 Anime Blu-rays from that list now

I just ordered the Freedom Box Set from Amazon because I figured it wouldn't be around for much longer... Now I will have every single Bandai Visual US release except for Yukikaze which is upscaled SD.

That is the Anime Legends version. It's just using the cover art for the volume 1 Remix version single disc. There is no other complete collections for Cowboy Bebop that include the Remix.

This is the only other complete collection but as you can see no 5.1 surround sound http://www.amazon.com/Cowboy-Bebop-P...6345868&sr=8-2

Besides I like the Remix complete collection because the extras have old, old Adult Swim commercials on the 1st disc.

Better than the $372. But seriously though it's that rare to find and to find it as new, never been used with soundtrack included is way beyond rare.

That's crazy. They were the same discs that came out individually. I have the soundtrack purchased separately too. And interestingly enough, they actually sold an un-numbered box for like $12. I still have them.

Well that did come out when anime complete boxsets came in the original single volumes. I'm glad those days are over because those were always crazy expensive especially the ones from Geneon which is probably why they went under and needed to be resurrected by Funimation.

- Anime Expo will also be hosting screenings of several of the most popular series of the anime genre – include Blu-ray screenings! There will also be English dub premieres of “Gunslinger Girl Il Teatrino” and “Big Wind-up” that are not-to-miss events! Check your program guide or the FUNimation booth for a full list of titles and times!

- AX 2009 Guest of Honor Takashi Okazaki will be at the FUNimation booth for autographs for a limited time during the convention. Meet the creator of Afro Samurai on Friday, July 3 from 1:00 -2:00 pm.

- FUNimation’s world premiere of the English dubbed version of Hideaki Anno’s EVANGELION: 1.0 YOU ARE (NOT) ALONE on Friday, July 3, in Live Programming Room 1 at 5:30 pm. ADR Director Mike McFarland and voice actor Brina Palencia (Rei Ayanami) will be on had to introduce the film and a post-screening Q&A session.

EVANGELION: 1.0 YOU ARE (NOT) ALONE is the film sequel to the sci-fi animated series blockbuster “Neon Genesis Evangelion” (also written and directed by Hideaki Anno) which aired on Japanese television in the mid 1990’s.

Visit the FUNimation booth before the screening, starting at 3:30 pm, to get autographs from Mike and Brina or on Saturday, July 4, 2:30 - 4:00 pm

- AX is also the only place you can purchase early releases of FUNimation
DVD’s including the “Gungrave” box set and “Kaze No Stigma” Season 1 Part 1! Plus, don’t forget about exclusive gift with purchase items!

- Veteran voice actor Vic Mignogna (“Fullmetal Alchemist”, “Ouran High School Host Club”, and more) will also be signing at the FUNimation booth during an exclusive ticketed event. Only the first 100 people to come to the FUNimation booth after the hall opens on Saturday, July 4 and request a ticket will secure a spot in line for Vic’s autograph later that day at 4:30 pm.
I've been waiting for the 2nd season for Gunslinger Girl for so long now. I mean the 1st season came out same time as Burst Angel did and that was like what 4 years ago now?

I can see why they got Brina Palencia to be Rei because she was the English dub actress for Hell Girl.

I met Vic at AX 2006 because that was when the Fullmetal Alchemist movie had it's very 1st screening for America before it went to select movie theaters and he signed my copy of D.N. Angel manga with Dark on the cover, the FMA movie poster I was lugging around, and heck even got some photographs with me and him, plus me and Laura Bailey, Kyle Hebert, Colleen Clickenbeard, and ugh so many good voice actors in 1 place. Plus I remember at the Geneon booth they had Ai Yori Aoshi music playing with the actual singer who sings the songs for Ai Yori Aoshi was there. So many great memories but wish I could go this year.

Now are all these original FUNimation releases coming out on Blu-ray upconverts?

I have "Yukikaze", worth it for the collection but disappointing since it was 4:3 upconvert and expensive. I wouldn't be surprised if this becomes the next "Aura Battler Dunbine" (the rarest anime DVD -> vol. 11 & vol. 12).

Yeah, it does sound amazing. Even for an upconvert, it still looks pretty good. I don't own any original Blu-ray releases from Japan that featured upconverts but for those who have, were the earlier BD anime imports (that were upconverted) in 4:3?

Although not necessarily an anime, "Street Fighter Round One: Fight!" is included as a DVD with the "Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li" Blu-ray release. The disc gives you the option to watch it in animation style (without word balloons) or comic style (with word balloons).

Anyway, received word from my Bandai Entertainment contact in Japan that their panel iat AX is Friday at 9 a.m. and they will be making a major announcement. So, not sure if this relates to Blu-rays or what...
