Well I thought I had confirmation, after going back, I do not. Looks like the blu-ray might not be until March.

One would think that they would want to release it before the Holidays...

Rope of Silicone mentioned the date here: http://www.ropeofsilicon.com/dvd/ponyo-blu-ray-disc but Disney Producer Frank Marshall tweeted that the DVD will be released in March: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news...-ship-in-march

:girlish scream:

Sorry but I have been waiting for this one since it was first announced (being made). Time to hunt.

Knowing Manga, no way, it's just their dvd release in 1080i. A preview that came out for the UK version: The original movie is on the Blu-ray and is in HD, but it's 1080i and has to be the worst transfer I've ever seen on Blu-ray. The source looks like a VHS tape.

/flashbacks of End of Evangelion dvd

EDIT: I just want to throw this out there....on the Best Buy website, they have a listing for Witchblade the complete series (11/3). On there store locations (of my local area) it says available for:
* BROOKLYN NY - Available

* BDWY N OF HOUSTON NY - Available

* STATEN ISLAND NY - Available

Now, the site also lists this page under dvd. But as far as I understand, this is a typo. A dvd version for 11/3 does not exist. So my point is, for anyone going to Best Buy over the next few days, could you please keep an eye open for Witchblade, if its out early? I would simply go myself, but I'm locked down from going out shopping until the weekend.

Thinking out loud. Doesn't Disney release their blus in advance of dvds? Could he mean Ponyo Blu in December, Ponyo Dvd in March? Or maybe my dementia is going all out.

Watched Escaflowne the other night. Solid release. Much improved over the DVD. Saw this in the theater back in 2000. The movie itself is good but I prefer the TV series. I remember buying that on subtitled VHS from Anime Village (Bandai) back in the day lol

I did get a kick out seeing the footage from anime expo 2000. How times have changed. No one was texting or surfing the internet with laptops lol.

Back in the good old days when people only carried around the original Palm Pilot and don't forget Handspring.

It's the original movie with some changes. Some of the cel animation has been replaced with 3-D CGI and the colors have been altered (what was blue before is now gold). I prefer the 1995 version myself. I find the switching back and forth between 3-D and 2-D a bit jarring.

Was going to get the Escaflowne movie at Best Buy yesterday but they didn't have it but they did have Blood: The Last Vampire(anime) and Ghost in the Shell 2.0 so I got Blood instead.

I would wait and pick up Escaflowne next week during the 30% off sale. Best Buy's regular price is too high.

Hi everyone,

As for Ponyo, I checked for our press section for Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment BD/DVD releases and a good number of releases for December but no mention of Ponyo.

Yeah, I was surprised about Anchor Bay releasing Ghost in the Shell 2.0 now, not surprised about "Blood: The Last Vampire" as I imagine they wanted it out the same time the live movie came out. But I'd love to hear how the PQ and AQ are for both titles.

Hehe...I was using a Casio Cassiopeia E-100 (had to have color and video despite the 32mb that you had to divide for memory and storage).

Bummer I want Ponyo. As for Blood: The Last Vampire not only does it come out the same time as the live action movie(though Best Buy won't carry the live action version in its stores) it's also great movie to own just before Halloween because not only does the story take place on Halloween(kind of like the Cowboy Bebop movie) but it has all of those monsters as well.

Oh and Blood(anime version) is excellent on Blu-ray.

Default some bloody questions

hey gang,

I just watched blood the last v (live version) last night. it was a dvd rental, to see what it was like. i enjoyed it and will snag the blu when i see a sale.

My questions are what is the anime movie like? is the live action a standard hollywood bastardization of source material?

is the series Blood, the same thing? or are Blood and Blood the last Vampire two different animes? i'm not massivly interested in getting it, but it could be a "got some extra money why not get X" type of buy. Thanks for any opinions and suggestions.

also did you guys say that Ghost in the shell 2.0 is just the first one changed a bit?? I thought it was the sequel.
