it's probably hard for crunchyroll people to license older anime since (funimation) has always focused mostly on new stuff.
Having the complete TV series all together in a box set and the new OVAs dubbed is reason enough for me to buy it. I'll be able to prominently display it somewhere in my collection, rather than tucked away on a shelf. If InuYasha could get complete box set similar to the recent Hunter X Hunter one from VIZ then it'd be perfect.

The price for this box set isn't bad either. 112 episodes loaded with the original and newer Steelbook special features, not to mention newly dubbed OVAs for $90. Crunchyroll knows this is the type of series that fans will buy more than once and they're cashing in on it. I'm honestly excited for this release despite it being the fourth time I've bought this series.

$71 on Rightstuf if you try too. I'm just waiting for the City Hunter movie/ova set to go up so I can order them together for free shipping.

Why is the studio who has the movie refusing to let anyone especially crunchyroll optain the license to it?

Got Anime stacks with a 10% coupon which they hand out pretty frequently. There is of course still tax but there is tax everywhere now and worth noting this does get it below the $75 free ship threshold.

Great I thought it was the studio that animated the series but it begs the question why did they give a English studio the rights originally and are now being difficult about it?

Watching season one on Tubi right now. Fell asleep over halfway through Episode 24 last night and woke up to the end of Episode 25 (in utter confusion like "what happened?") so now I'm going to rewatch what I missed

This is also the first time the whole TV series has been sold in one go, it's been at the fewest 4 different "seasons" on Blu-ray and DVD.Who knows, though it should be noted that it took a rather long time for them to rescue the first movie and to get the Eizou Hakusho OVAs. At least the old Central Park Media DVDs aren't particularly expensive.
But to someone who already has the series on BD, it's a complete middle finger to expect me to buy it again just for a quick OVA.

Such a weird perspective.

No one is "expecting you to do anything". I have the entire series already, and can do whatever I want. Why would I have to buy something again just because it has the OVAs? No issue whatsoever. You're creating problems in your own mind.

Your old set isn't any less useful just because there's a new version coming out. You still own the entire series. Some people who love the series will buy the new set just to get the new box. One could also sell the old set to subsidize the cost of the new one. You could probably throw your old sets on here on WTS and get $40-$50+ no problem. That's a great deal and I'm sure someone would jump at it to own them that cheaply. There are so many options.

Where can I find a 10% off coupon for RS? I don't have 'Got Anime' and I'd like to pre-order this.

Tho I suppose if I'm saving 8 bucks I should consider getting it for once.

Really depends how much you order but for me GA has saved quite a bit. I never had it until this year-ish because I had wrongfully thought it didn't work on pre-orders. Most months I'm saving $12-15 and GA is $18 for a year so it makes sense for me currently.

As far as getting those 10% codes nothing is guaranteed but generally adding things to your cart and then not buying them tends to get you one emailed to you.

This used to work for me for awhile, then all of a sudden I stopped getting those e-mails many years ago.

I tried reaching out to RightStuf and in the end they weren't able to help me.

Yeah sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. I also sometimes just get them when I'm browsing the site.

I don't think it's a weird perspective to want to add the 2 new OVA's to my collection without re-buying the entire series, but ok whatever.

you read that and thought I was saying that wanting to own the OVAs was weird?

He said that the new release "was a giant middle finger" to him. He also posted previously, "This set is missing the two theatrical films, making it a worthless set."

No, but I can't entirely disagree with his sentiment. Those of us who already own it and don't want to double dip are locked out of the new OVA's, at least for now, and we've waited quite some time for them to show up at all. And no, I don't agree that the set is worthless without the movies, it does have its value, but if you already own it then you're essentially paying the hefty price tag for the 2 OVA's alone. Yes, yes, you can sell your old sets to recoup some cost but still.

Doesn't help they own international rights to some titles they distributed theatrically in Japan but didn't produce (Vampire Hunter: D being another).
