Cinelicious Pics restoring Belladonna of Sadness for US release

I have never heard of this film before but that trailer and artstyle sold me. Will go to one of the local screenings in two weeks.

I have this film on DVD, and I'm anxiously looking forward to the Blu-ray from Cinelicious Pics. I love the art style, the soundtrack, and the overall mood. It's much different from most anime. There's very little actual animation for the most part -- instead, the camera will pan over still images with voiceovers and music. This didn't bother me much, however, since the artwork mostly looks great.

I was so busy with work and other activities this past week that I forgot this was being showed in one of my local cinemas and I missed the screening window. Will have to wait for the BD to come out to watch it. :/

Seems like the first printing of the regular edition companion book will include the Blu-ray, no matter where it's bought from. Originally only the description on the Hat & Beard Press website mentioned that the first printing will come with the Blu-ray, but the descriptions on Amazon.com/co.uk/de have been adjusted and now mention the inclusion of the Blu-ray as well. I tried contacting Hat & Beard this week, but they haven't responded yet.

Try asking Andrew Partridge at Anime Limited about posters, because Anime Limited is releasing the movie on Blu-ray in the UK. Their webshop offers international shipping.

- when you speak of the blu-ray coming with the book(s), is there a difference between the blu-rays between the regular book and the limited edition book?

UPDATE: to answer my own question, it looks like amazon is the best place to get the book ($50.77), as the Hat and Beard site is selling it for $60. Don't think the "limited edition" is worth the $120 for:

the Blu-ray release of the restored feature film by Cinelicious Pics; the official U.S. theatrical one-sheet 27 × 39 inch poster; an alternate theatrical poster featuring artwork only available with the limited edition; a Belladonna enamel jewelry pin; and a promotional postcard.

PS: the deepdiscount blu-ray is currently $21.99.

Yes. There is a $120 limited edition that's exclusive to the Hat and Beard webshop (Available here) and there is also a regular release of the book that's also available at other stores, like that Amazon link you posted.

The Hat and Beard representative told me that the regular edition comes only with the disc itself stitched inside the book, so it's missing the Blu-ray case and the 16 page booklet. The limited edition comes with the full retail Blu-ray with Blu-ray case and the booklet. In addition the limited edition also contains some extra goodies:

The reviewer likes the look of the blu ray, but feels that the compression could have been better.

It's pretty clear the compression is subpar, reminds me of Criterion's Mulholland Drive. Most of the shots just show a lot of compression artifacts in the grain, but in that first example the encoder seems to have broken down completely.

I'd be a bit annoyed if I had worked on the restoration and this was the end result (for those not being able to see it in theaters.)

Yep they stopped doing that long ago because people as always abused the system. You an however should be able to get it fixed because it dropped before it shipped. Well usually it auto adjust but I haven't preordered anything from AMZ in forever. I used to get an email saying that since it dropped I got xxx amount back.
