FWIW -- dispatch does indicate this was sent DHL/Priority at least so hopefully Wed or Thursday it will arrive.

Just given up hope that I will get mine until next week now. Anyone double checked that The Chase episode 1 is uncut?

I ordered 4 items with Priority Shipping including the LE set a month ago. First 3 items shipped in 2 packages and both sent Standard. They arrived 2+ weeks later most in OK shape at least though some damage to the covers, but Amazon CSR basically said "We're sorry" and offered neither an explanation nor refund even when I pressed them on the £10-15 surcharge ( think it was 32 instead of 18-19.

If S2 ships Standard I think I'll try again and press the issue a bit harder and escalate to a supervisor or above if needed.

This happened to me over ten times earlier this year and, like hariseldon, I never received any form of compensation, bar perhaps the occasional £5 credit after an hour of exasperated chatting with customer service. Amazon would send items as they saw fit, not with DHL Express or UPS for Priority shipping, but with GEODIS or APG (Australia Post Global) Express, with each parcel taking about 7-10 business days to arrive. Multiple chats and phone calls essentially went nowhere. I eventually learned that AmazonGlobal Priority only "works" when the item you are ordering isn't a pre-order, although saying that, I have 11 other titles I did order Sunday night (which were supposed to go with this one) and they haven't dispatched yet, so I'm nervous Amazon may be screwing around again.

I had pre-ordered this set in case it sold out or Amazon closed off ordering, but when that didn't happen, I cancelled near the release date, because only AmazonGlobal Standard was offered at the time and I wanted AmazonGlobal Priority, so I was prepared on Sunday night to order ASAP with proper shipping. Instead, the set went from pre-order, to "Temporarily out of stock", which would still only allow for AmazonGlobal Standard shipping. Now it seems they are not taking any further orders and I wonder if I have missed out on this release. If so, that would be a first, as I have all the other ones.

It’s out of stock now at Zavvi, HMV and Amazon. Still not had a dispatch confirmation for my copy.

It’s an absolute shit show the way they are managing these releases - 12 sets in and they’ve totally ****ed things up with this one. Not happy at all.

Awesome news! I heard from a few other folks who also chose Global Priority and also got the correct DHL shipping, so I REALLY hope mine does, too! My order is still Preparing for Dispatch, which is annoying, but maybe it will ship overnight tonight??

I've just had my dispatch notification from The Entertainment Store on eBay so I hope you have just had yours too.

It’s showing as dispatched now so I can breathe easier.

I was starting to worry because I’d duplicated the order by mistake on Saturday night - it didn’t seem to go through at first, there was a delay of a few minutes and I’d clicked again and got a duplicate order.

They told me they were cancelling the second one this morning but then nothing happened with the other so I was starting to get worried that there had been a misunderstanding.

Hopefully it will be delivered Wednesday or Thursday, if not I’ll not get it until next week as I’m going down to London for a long weekend.

I’m thinking season 6. Troughton’s now the only one without a set, and S6 is his season with the least amount of missing episodes.

Everything is a bit up in the air with these but I think the consensus at the moment is probably season 9 next. Apparently Peter Davison and Janet Fielding have told fans at a convention over the weekend that season 20 is coming in the summer. That would give them a bit more time on season 6 - The Space Pirates is the problematic one there, as only 1 episode exists and there are no telesnaps.

It might be a case with some of these stories where just the audio exists that we just get the audio on the Blu Ray sets - a bit like the audio of Slipback on season 22.

Fair point. I knew Loose Cannon did a reconstruction, but didn’t know what the source was for theirs. I’m just impatient for Troughton’s seasons (he’s my favourite of the classic Doctors), but I’m also fine with waiting knowing that his seasons will require the most work.

I don't think The Space Pirates will be that much of an issue. It will need a new restoration for the surviving episode, but then it is just a matter of reconstructing the others. I'm sure they'll manage to cobble together something. Even if it is a more simplistic gallery or a storyboard (akin to Red Dwarf's lost episode reconstructions).

With Season 6, the issue is much the same as Season 2 and 1 in that they have a large number of episodes. Much like Season 2, they'd likely only be able to do a full new restoration on a couple of stories, so that should be The Mind Robber and The Invasion.

Getting Season 2 and 6 out of the way alongside Season 8 and 9 (the most difficult seasons to restore alongside Season 7) in the first half of the range means they might not be quite so constrained by the restoration. Season 4 and 5 have already had many episodes receive HD restorations. Might mean they can speed up the range a little.

I would hope that season 4 and 5 would be later releases as we’ve had the animations for many of these stories. I wouldn’t be surprised if the box sets don’t have all the different options on either, eg. colour animations - I think bearing in mind the disc count they might be exclusive to the animation releases.

What I like is that as we start to move into the second half of the range, we’ll have gaps being filled between seasons. With season 20 released, we’ll have 4 consecutive seasons on the shelf. Likewise when they get around to releasing season 25.

I think all bets were off with the Pertwee seasons when they released season 8 so early as I thought that would need a lot of restoration, compared with the likes of season 10. Season 9 is probably in reasonable shape, with probably The Curse of Peladon and The Sea Devils being the two that need the most work. Main problem for season 7 will be Ambassadors of Death and the first episode of Invasion of the Dinosaurs is the issue for season 11. There has been a lot of people over the years calling for CG effects on Dinosaurs but I don’t really think it’s feasible. It’s not just the cost of the dino effects but actually removing the existing models from each shot too. The Skarasen would be a similar issue in Terror of the Zygons - I think the best we can really hope is to have these shots cleaned up.

Season 9 will need full new restorations for The Curse of Peladon, The Sea Devils 1-3, The Mutants 1-2 and The Time Monster 1-5 using the new technique that was used for Inferno SE, The Claws of Axos and Colony in Space. Will probably mean only a small amount of work can be done on the rest of the season.

Season 7 will have Spearhead and Inferno only needing touch ups as they've already had more recent restorations. Doctor Who and the Silurians will be a brand-new restoration utilising the chroma dot process to improve the existing colourisation, I expect. I do seem to remember that Ambassadors of Death has been looked at a little further for colour recovery but a quick look at Richard Russell's Twitter shows I might be thinking of this from 2021 which is Season 9.

Invasion of the Dinosaurs will probably utilise manual colourisation alongside the chroma dot recovery. The Daemons had a few minutes manually colourised for Season 8 due to the improvements in AI technology allowing it to be done much quicker and cheaper than before. That is the only difficult episode to restore for that season.

An option for Season 4 when it comes to keeping disc count down might be to include the colour animation in SD as a bonus disc and maybe put the recons on other discs (The Smugglers, The Highlanders, The Underwater Menace and The Moonbase should all have enough room to have further SD recons on). Season 5 would fit on 9 discs with existing content, just like Season 2.

So close but so far. It’s been in a depot 26 miles away since 6am but there has been no movement on the status all morning. I’m expecting it will be tomorrow now, but I am on holiday from tomorrow so I’ll have the whole of the next 2 days.

I think I managed to make it to the end of The Romans episode one before nodding off last night. I woke up at the end of episode four! Watching through the dics so far they have done a really good job of tidying up the visuals as best as they can.

Possibly unpopular opinion - the last two episodes of the Dalek Invasion of Earth are rather shambolic, the whole Ian in the mine shaft and Barbara in the Dalek control room. It looks messy in its production, I know the sets were tiny because of studio space etc but it looks rushed.

DIOE has never been one of my favourite serials really. The only Dalek serials I really rate are Day of the Daleks, Genesis of the Daleks and Remembrance of the Daleks. First episode of "The Daleks" is fantastic too, but it does drag a bit later.
