Yeah it's great news isn't it. The BBC doing the right thing.
It will certainly take a load of worry off my mind.
I've been very lucky so far and have managed to get all the LEs too but to know there'll be a backup coming along in a few months (or even 3 years, though i doubt it's going to stay that big a gap) if i miss one is a great relief.

I've put all my Doctor Who blu ray on eBay, as of yesterday. I'd managed to grab almost all of them on release, except for s19 which I bought at a slight premium.

I can do with the money, and will buy the standard editions as they are released. I don't care about limited edition packaging - I just want to own the original series. Glad the BBC have finally changed their model for these sets.

They are still selling the Limited Edition versions though.

Yes but before that's all they were selling, and if you didn't pre order them then you had to resort to ebay. Just silly. Series 10 is/was going for £200+ on eBay.

Saying that, if they produce limited stock of the standard edition it'll be exactly the same.

I would prefer the non-limited packaging (more compact, and you still get the booklet) but as I started with the limiteds so I guess I'll continue with them (too much hassle and money to do otherwise). Also I would worry that they might stop the non-limiteds at some stage or simply not make them for the less popular seasons.

I’m thinking the opposite. They will keep these in print like the DVD range. They will be around for many years.

Good. Finally a chance to purchase without lining the pockets of a scalper wanting to rip me off.

After getting stuffed over on the pre-order I can get the two missing sets Season 12 and 19. Stuff the scalpers, this is great news.

I suggest go for the UK discs. The US ones are dubbed with the Doctor having an American accent, and offering people Slim Jims instead of Jelly Babies. He also say “Hee-haw” a lot. Just feels different.

He also pronounces lever "lehver" instead of "leever" and close you eyes if he's ever asked to point to someone's fanny.

I was looking to get the standard editions to fill in the missing sets (12 & 14) I never got when they were originally released. Will these be easily available for some time? Or will they sell out quickly and become hard to get like the limited edition sets. For anybody who owns both standard and limited edition sets. Are the standard edition releases the same height to fit in with the existing limited edition set?

They've made no indication that these are limited, and given how quickly they're coming out I expect that the plan is to keep them in circulation for the foreseeable future. The re-releases are in regular-height Blu-ray cases.

While I don't think they should ever have been as limited as they made them initially, my worry is they flood the market with these reissues and kill the desire for people to support the LE releases at full day one price which funds the range. They should keep a good length of time between the release of a LE and it's standard counterpart so people still think it worthwhile to keep buying the LE sets. I'll pluck 12 months out of the air and say that sounds sensible.

These are the normal editions, so these should be available for the foreseeable future. They're not the same size as the rest of these sets. The new releases are normal sized height, there were the limited releases are quite a bit taller.

How odd that they have a random copy again, curious if it's the first or second print, honestly, I kind of want a copy of the first print because of that correct spine art

This was 26.50 euros on Amazon.it until last week, wouldn't be surprised if it drops again.
