Unhappy Deep Red 4k ( Arrow Video )

Hi.

I preordered Deep Red 4k version af from Arrow Video, in both the UK and US stores.
The preorder went through today on both stores, but as far as I can see both stores only have the international 105minute version of the film, even though it it advertised as having both the 105min and 126min directors cut of the film
You can choose to play the movie in different versions, the main version should be the the 126min directors cut, and you can play an alternative version which is titled the international version.
The international version is indeed the 105min version of the movie ( in 1080p ), but when you play the default version which should be the directions cut 126min version, you just get the 105min version in Dolby Vision and 4K, so basically the same version of the film just in 4k with Dolby Vision
Anyone experiencing the same issues and / or can elaborate on what is going on here ?
Maybe someone have already been in contact with Arrow Video in order for the to clarify ?

Cheers Dennis

Just checked and yes, I also got the same international version twice. I'm guessing this is a mistake on Arrow's part.
Will send them an e-mail about this today .

Edit:
I've sent Arrow a message about the issue.

Ask Arrow also to put italian not a hybrid audio to director's cut (or both).

I actually got in touch with them via Facebook and they promised to look into the issue and get back to me, so lets see what happens

Always forget about Facebook to get in touch with companies.
Anyway, I had some framerate issues on iTunes with other Arrow titles and after sending them an e-mail about it, they fixed a few days later.
Have a good feeling they'll fix this too .
At least with this 'replacement program' we won't have to wait a few weeks before the disc arrives .

Sounds good that they ar responsive and actually fix their issues, something the bigger distribution companies could learn something from
And yes there is some benefits of being a digital movie collector, like you said no waiting for replacement disc 🤣

Haven't heard anything back yet, but to be fair last time it took a little while before I got a reply and the sale is still going on, so I expect that might slow down response time from them.
Most important thing for me is I've got one cut of Deep Red in 4K DV. If they fix the issue fine, if not it's not the end of the world as I have two Blu-rays containing the DC.

Ahhh I was already wondering if I wanted to spend the three entire dollars to add it to my library since I already own the limited blu-ray. It looks like they haven't added the extras that are new to the UHD release. Can anyone confirm?

• New audio commentary by critics Troy Howarth and Nathaniel Thompson
• Almost three hours of new interviews with members of the cast and crew, including co-writer/director Dario Argento, actors Macha Méril, Gabriele Lavia, Jacopo Mariani and Lino Capolicchio (Argento's original choice for the role of Marcus Daly), production manager Angelo Iacono, composer Claudio Simonetti, and archival footage of actress Daria Nicolodi

I'll still probably get it before the sale is over. I was just going to pounce if it had the new interviews.

It has the following extras:
Audio commentary by Thomas Rostock.
Introduction by composer Claudio Simonetti.
Profondo Giallo.
Rosso Recollections.
The Lady in Red.
Music to Murder For!
Profondo Rosso: From Celluloid to Shop.
Deep into the Red.
16 Years in Red.
The Medium Wore Black.
Carlo Never Dies.
I am the Screaming Child.
Bloodstained.
Death Dies.
Italian Trailer.
US Trailer.

You might know if there are any new extras.

The other Argento movies in 4K on iTunes don't have any extras and I found those to be worth it for £2,99.

Can definitely recommend the iTunes edition in 4k DV because it is a huge upgrade visually, they just need to fix the directors cut issue 🤘

Thank you very much! Mildly disappointing they didn't add new things (yet?) but it's too generous to begin with so who am I to complain.

Sometimes I underestimate how big of an upgrade these can be. You're both right, the 4K dolby vision should be reason enough to just go with it.

Had a look at DVDcompare and it looks like the iTunes release does have the new extras.
Only the new commentary seems to have been omitted.

*squinting at the back of my blu-ray box*
*squinting at your above list of extras*

*repeats this four more times*

oh mein gott you're right. "Deep in the Red" through "Death Dies" are not on the older limited Arrow blu-ray. Thank you! Sorry I should have taken a better look at your list and settled it right there.

And I just purchased it in iTunes and I see the older extras are under Bonus Content and the new ones are under Interviews. Now to just send a series of angry tweets at Arrow over this missing commentary… (kidding)

Are we saying that the DC should be the main feature in 4K DV, but it’s just the TC? The TC is then available as an iTunes extra? As someone who has blind bought Deep Red, which is the better version - TC or DC?

About which version should be in 4K DV is a matter of personal preference I think.
Personally I would've liked the DC to be in 4K DV, but I'm sure others like the TC to be in 4K DV (as it is atm).
As to which version is best, I think it's the DC, but mostly because I like the movie and you just get more of it in the DC .
But whether you watch the TC or DC, I'm jealous of anybody experiencing Deep Red for the first time.

Got a response from Arrow, saying they'll look into the matter and will come back to me about it.

*previously unreleased, for the pedants.
I just watched the Dario Argento interview and it didn't appear moldy, so it seems fine. But it does make you wonder how they film this stuff and then just hold onto it.

And, also, I'll always continue to wonder how Arrow chooses which of their iTunes releases get to include extra features. I can only guess they don't add extras to too many because they just want to give samples and entice more people to buy their loaded blu-rays. Which seems fair.

Like, I was wondering for a moment why they left Cat O'Nine Tails iTunes 4K bare, but I'm seeing now they didn't add any new supplements to that UHD disc, so my blu-ray will continue to suffice in that department. Somehow this makes their adding in the new Deep Red features feel all the more conscious and considerate.

I'm on the other side of the fence with the International vs DC, I much prefer the shorter version, but I was surprised that the 'Alt. Version' on the extras was the same 105 min version lol.

Watched it the other night anyway, really love this film
