France The Serpent and the Rainbow

Just received my Mediabook today of subject title.
Nicest cover I've ever seen for the flik and the included booklet (though French) is excellent ( once more, my peasant French gets a workout.. )
The soundtrack has both English as well as French and though PAL (Region B) locked, for those with region free players I cannot recommend this release too highly! (ok, I gotta watch it first but according to the specs, I should be delighted.)
It's a nice price right now as well (22 Euros) considering the quality that went into this release (Wild Side Video).
Needed to share this info, it's too great to keep to myself...

oops; It's at Amazon.Fr

Not mentioned by the first poster but can I assume that the French subtitles are not forced.

1080p 24 fps video according to back cover.

Tread carefully. Can't say for sure for this release, but a lot of Wild Side releases have forced French subtitles on their English tracks. Some recent Wild Side discs confirmed to have forced subs on the original language track are Lenny, Hell Or High Water, The Villainess...

+1 and it's confirmed by the review on dvdclassik the french subs are imposed on this blu-ray. They also say that the pq is not good.

Regretfully, I must confirm your suspicions, French subs are forced.
Fortunately, this evening I was able to order the Shout Factory "Collector's Edition" Blu for $15 off of Amz.com.
Strange, the minute I bought it and went back to check the write-up on the web page, the price had jumped to $20!
Lucky me I guess...
Anyway, I'll swap the discs, as the French one is the preferred display item and the Shout disc is the one I'll be showing to guests.

I am thinking about buying this version soon to be released in Germany....

https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B07...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

However I notice it does not have English subtitles and I cannot remember whether there are any parts in the movie that are spoken in Haitian.....does anyone know whether there is any scenes spoken that are non-English that you would need subtitles for?

Thanks!

The film's dialogue is all in English. There's no subtitled moments.
