How unfortunate, those shots are certainly not attractive and I'm definitely not buying the release now. Really annoying as the scans seem to look really great and detailed apart from the filtering. I just hope it's not baked into the master and that some other company might be able to do a better-looking release.

Just to clarify things: These films are not, under any circumstances, ment to be seen with english audio. Original german audiotrack and subtitles only.

I see no reason to avoid "Fitzcarraldo" or "Cobra Verde" in English.
On "Aguirre" I never seriously tried to get used to the English language version so I can't say much about how much the English dub holds up.

On "Nosferatu" I am pretty sure that the German version is the one to go but still it was entirely shot in English and only parts of it were shot a second time in German.

Anchor Bay replied to my follow up question by referring me to Herzog's company directly. They must be tired of hearing from fans, or else they want fans to let Herzog know himself that people in the US want his movies in HD. Either way, new message sent!

Here. There are more shots later in the thread.

It's a bit soft but Aguirre seems to at least have escaped the horrible artifacting watercolour filter.

EUR 20,99 for NOSFERATU??!

EDIT: It's now 17.99. And in USD, about $22, I think. Getting better...
