So far, I love my kindle.
I have an accessory coming today hehe ![]() ![]() I will let you know how the application process goes. I ordered this case from ebay and like it alot. The only drawback is that is makes pressing the 4-way button to the right a little difficult. My case has a place where you can keep cards as well. ![]() |

I've had my Kindle for about a month and really like it. I haven't bought a case yet because I haven't taken it out of the house, but I probably will get one soon. I use it for around 30 minutes each night and the only time I've charged it was when I got it but it still has almost 3/4 of it's battery. Reading on a Kindle is nice because the screen looks like a real book and doesn't hurt my eyes like an Ipad can. It's kind of weird to get used to a Kindle though. Even though it says at the bottom what percentage of the book has been read I still feel like I have no idea how much longer the book is. It's nicer holding a small, light device than a big book though when I'm laying in bed.

Oh, I also got an anti glare screen protector. I just put it on the other day... not that I really noticed a glare... but i can't even tell there is anything on it and the application was simple. It wasn't anything fancy, and came as a bonus with the leather case.

I love my Kindle, especially since it has the 3g. I am not on highspeed at home, and that is where I do my reading and dowloading so the 3g is well worth the extra $50.
Having never looked at any of the other kindles I am not familiar with the redesigns. However, I do like that the page buttons are on both sides because it really makes them easier to use. I do like that you can password protect your kindle, but my password is numeric and in order to do you have to press the symbol button then open a new window. Perhaps I should just consider an alphabet password. lol. It would be nice if the kindle would turn off after say 10 minutes of inactivity instead of just leaving the screen saver on... That really did freak me out the first time.. The pages are really nice to read it is JUST like a real piece of paper, it even has that offwhite coloring. If only they could make it smell like a book... ![]() I too agree that it is hard to tell where you are in a book even with the %. I was all involved with a book, Macruz will remember, I was eating up the pages and then it ended on a cliffhanger and i was like WHAT?!?!?!!? there is still 10% left!!!!! Like an idiot I kept flipping pages... but alas I must wait until the next book comes out on tuesday... The kindle is super lightweight and if you are going to put it in a bag or carry it somewhere I would really recommend a case. Amazon has a lot to chose from, I am always checking and they recently released a new set of colors. However, you can find them much cheaper by e shopping around. I haven't yet read a glowingly positive review on cases with lights... a light would have been handy on the above stated book reading incident as I was attempting to read in the car as we passed street lamps.... yes yes I know... |

I *heart* my Kindle.
This is the cover I got for mine: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0045EOWOM Makes it much more "book-like", if that's your goal. |

I'll refer you elsewhere for my thoughts about ereaders and such but I have to ask, LeAnn have you noticed an egregious amount of errors in your kindle books?
It would be too much of a coincidence if the problem was limited to only the books I've read. The reviews of kindle books tells me that much but I wonder how much it bothers anyone else.... it's become a deal breaker for me. |

I disagree that it's on par with the printed versions as I've done the comparisons, the number of errors in e-volumes is significantly higher.
To each their own I suppose but I really hope the e-versions of books aren't used to print future editions. As a junkie for the printed word it would make me very sad indeed. I've actually emailed a few of my favorite authors, the ones I have friendships with to see what their thoughts are, Terry Brooks, Tad Williams and Neil Gaiman. I usually hear back within a week and will post what I hear from them when I hear it. |

I've had my Kindle over a year now. Use it every day. I barely ever read once I got out of school. Maybe 4 books since then. I've read so many on my Kindle. I've downloaded over 40 free ebooks. All the classics are free. Jules Verne is the best.
Currently I'm reading book 4 of The Hollows series. Best series ever! EDIT: I got the basic leather case. Works great, protects the kindle well. |
