Game modding illegal in Japan, punishable by prison and fines

I remember hearing about that. It really sucks. There are a lot of other reasons to mod your console besides piracy. I sure hope that this doesn't happen in the west.

When I bought a modded Mini Sega Genesis off of ebay in Jan., ebay took off the auction after I contacted the guy about the item. You can still get them on ebay, so it doesn't make sense.

Well some systems need it to play games from other regions. Like I could probably name thousands of titles that I wanted on like PS1, PS2, Wii, 3DS, GameCube, etc but couldn’t buy them because of region-locking. When a game doesn’t reach all regions on systems like that, you pretty much have to in order to enjoy those games.

And around 95% of those games would have been from Japan. Of course I never have gone through modding a console since I wouldn’t know how, but if I could I would.

For the GC I just had a boot disc that let me load any region of game. It was called Free Loader. The Action Replay disc I believe also let you load any region of game.

While not quite moding I've been able to jury rig stuff finding adapters for both switch and PlayStation allowing me to use my customized elite pad on all as well as fight sticks need to get different adapters for them but it doesn't mean you have to disassemble the systems just plug n play controller swapers!

I use my tournament fight stick from the PlayStation 3 on my Xbox one and a Wii generation fight stick to play smash bros on switch same adapter supposed to work on PlayStation but the adapters i use the most are to convert your Xbox one and elite pad on PlayStation and switch they're not the same adapter.

Even can purchase a Wii u version for Xbox controllers.

The ps3 fight stick adapter also converts PlayStation dual shocks to Xbox unfortunately they haven't gotten a elite pad on PlayStation and haven't improved much sience ps1 days.
