Holland Se7en (9/2/09) (Dutch)

Anyone picking this up? Wondering if it will be the same transfer as the Canadian crap version.

Sorry if there's another thread about this already but couldn't find one.

highly doubt it'll be like the Canadian version. This is sure to be 1080p with a correct OAR. Hopefully this signals an eventual US release as well.

I'm really hoping this Dutch release has the correct OAR. If it does I will be importing Se7en, and adding this title to my Blu-ray library.

If Fight Club is already on it's way to the states, then I expect Se7en to be not too far behind.

I wouldn't be too sure about the right aspect ratio, and it not being an Alliance port. RCV is not known for its quality releases. They have not proven their HD skills with only 3 or 4 releases. Okay Kill Bill and Sin City had both a very nice pq and aq on BRD, but they distributed several DVD's with a doubtful quality (f.e. wrong aspect ratio).

A reviewer from DVDinfo stated that it is in 2.35:1 with a DTS HD MA track. No extra's though. A review can be expecter shortly.

At least it has the original aspect ratio.

All announced and released back catalog titles released bij RCV are vanilla discs.

I am wondering how the PQ and AQ are. Not only for se7en, also for Blade and Gangs of New York. I hope the last one has a better PQ as its counterparts

Report back, if/when you get them all!

Any chance of updating your main thread, btw?

As soon as I moved to my new home.

But no major new titles to be expected at this time.

When I find reviews I'll post them. I'll probable wait for them before I buy one or more releases from RCV. Some Dutch film fans call them Really Crappy Vision/Video/Version.
At least GONY and 7 are getting a review. To be continued...

RCV is one of the worst distributors we have in The Netherlands. Almost all of their dvd releases are barebones and don't have a menu. You put the disc in, some trailers play, then the film and when it's finished the disc stops automatically.

Seems the did a better job than Alliance. Good, though not excellent, PQ and AQ. It has a 2.40:1 aspect ratio, no DNR and (probably 16-bit) DTS HD MA. I am wondering how GONY will come out of the reviews. I hope they do not re-use the Miramax or TF1/Concorde master.

Frank: Yes they have put much crap on the Dutch market. Which are real missed oppurtunities. But lately they seem changing their strategy. Many older titles re-appeared as a 2-disc. Some even with DTS (Traffic). On the other hand; with the reissues they did missed some needed upgrades for from example American History X (4:3 p&s). So it is a stock exchange like of quality; Some days it is good, some days it is really bad.

Well if they did such a good job with Se7en, I might just take a chance with their Blade disc, out the same day.
