So the Dutch version of Se7en is better then the Canadian release? Same with Gangs of NY? How much better?

Se7en is one of my favorite movies!

i own the 2 disc collectors dvd + the blu cdn version. now looking to pick this one up. how much of an upgrade would you say the blu is from the dvds?

I can't say from the canadian BD (Only ratio correct),but from DVD I would say about halfway between the 2-disc version of DVD,and the best transfer on BD.Sorry that I can't be more specific,but not as good as-say-transformers in PQ but much better than DVD.Kind of like 'LA confidential' and 'Blood diamond' if you have them.Not perfect,but much better than DVD.

definitely. it gives me perspective as to how much i am willing to pay for this version. if it was a reference material transfer then more, but since its only decent... perhaps a bit less. thanks for your opinion.

I hear various things about GONY. So I wait for some reviews. DVDinfo has a screener, so a review should pop up in the next couple of days.

1080p AVC - 2.35:1
Compared to the DVD. I sold my copy of the 2-disc edition a while ago. So I can not compare it 1:1. I know the DVD looked great. However, the BR is superior with more depth and detail. The skintones are as natural as can be, af for the use of colour filters and dark scenes.

The movie has a layer of grain, which is not annoying. So they did a fair job, not using the PQ killing DNR button. I did not see edge enhancement either. It is not top notch, like the digital movies from nowadays, but it gives a pleasant HD experience.

DTS HD MA 5.1 English
The DTS HD MA 5.1 sounds good. Allthough it is a pitty they did not choose for a 24-bit track. Dialogue is coming from the center, and there is a good ambiance with surrounding details.

Extra features
3 cross promotional trailers (Sin City, Gangs of New York, ...) in SD. It is a pity those are not in HD for a better promotion of their releases on BR.

As said the subtitles are optional. The cover states region ABC. In total this release has a good quality in relation to its price (in vice versa) for the unsteady independent distributor RCV. I would say - Buy!

I did a comparison between the US and Dutch version. Slight changes to the picture, but still crap enough to not buy it though. I must have been wrong the first time, then again I saw the picture from a bigger distance.

In would say that the Dutch version is better because it is OAR.

A slight difference in some scenes, but nothing to write home about. If I had to choose, I would let them both stay on the shelf as they're equally crap
