The Stand by Stephen King is hands down the greatest book I ever read. The character development is absolutely mind blowing. I have not felt that sort of attachment to a fictional cast since the closure of Lost.

Chuck is a brilliant author, I can't wait to read Damned in October. Haunted was by far my favorite book, I would love to see what a creative director could do with that book. The Cult has rumor saying Koen Mortier director of Ex-Drummer is spearheading it, but that's been posted for at least 3 yrs now =(
BTW his movie was on instant queue, but I warn, it's a foreign film and definitely lives up to being one. His art of directing could be good for the stories chuck has also.

Too many to list! But some that come to mind are:

- James Agee - A Death in the Family
- William Shakespeare - Everything, but especially The Tempest
- Shirley Jackson - The Haunting of Hill House
- Stephen King - Everything
- Scott Smith - The Ruins
- Michael Cunningham - The Hours
- Annie Proulx - Close Range: Wyoming Stories

You may be interested (if you haven’t read it already) in “Aztec” by Gary Jennings. It’s just as epic and engrossing.
Well, I got "Aztec" on ebay based on your recommendation. If it's comparable to Shogun I gotta read it! Thank you.

The Colour of Magic, because it was my very first Terry Pratchett novel, though I do love all of them.

Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte
The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett

Probably a cliche answer, but Pride & Prejudice is a book I've revisited often. It's been my favorite for years now.

As far as novels go, I would choose To Kill a Mockgbird. Another good one is An American Abroad.

The whole Dark Series is terrific but the final installment is some of King's best writing.

My favorite book is definitely Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson, I just love that book and I've read it so many times.

Shantaram, by Gregory David Roberts. It unseated my long-held favorite, David Copperfield, and has literally changed my life.
