Besides the Bible, I would gave to say The Lord of the Rings. Am glad my ten-year-old son is reading it now.

My favorite book of all time is the unabridged version of The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas. I re-read this every five years or so.

I'd have to say Lord of the Rings would be at the top of my list. Also the Dark Tower series is up there. I know those aren't specific books, but it's hard to pick just one.

The Lord of the Rings is a single book. It was just split into 3 volumes by the publisher, because at the time of its publication a book of that size was cost prohibitive. JRR Tolkien always considered it and wrote it as a single 1200 page book. Even the titles, Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, Return of the King (which Tolkien despised) were created at the request of the publisher.

Yes, I know. At any rate, it is split into three books, not one. Tokien didn't like the title Return of the King, because he believed it to spoil the story, which I can empathize with.

I don't remember the exact name of the title, but Gangsters and Goodfellas: The Life of Henry Hill. Highly recommended, especially to fans of the Martin Scorsese masterpiece film Goodfellas (which covers all of the events in Henry Hill's life from 1955 to 2003).

Hm... Lord of the rings, Harry Potter (Book 5 was my favorite), and Redwall are some of my favorites. Dracula is a classic too.

One of the last books I read that I couldn't put down til it was over was The Road by Cormac McCarthy. I saw the trailer for the film but I haven't checked it out, I wanted the book to sink in for 5 or so years first.
