I haven't seen this mentioned yet, so excuse if this is old information, but it looks like we'll be seeing a Looney Tunes Platinum Collection on Blu-ray this fall. I noticed this in a panel listing for San Diego Comic-Con:

3:00-4:00 Classic Warner Bros./Hanna-Barbera Cartoons Going Blu-ray— Animation historian Jerry Beck and Warner Archives' George Feltenstein lead a panel of renowned animation and restoration experts, including Spike Brandt (The Looney Tunes Show), Tony Cervone (The Looney Tunes Show), and Paul Dini (Lost, Tower Prep), in presenting and discussing selected vintage cartoons from Warner Home Video's fall 2011 Blu-ray release of the newly remastered Tom and Jerry Golden Collection and Looney Tunes Platinum Collections.

USA Looney Tunes: Platinum Collection on Blu-ray - Fall 2011

If the Looney Tunes Platinum Collection is anything like what we've heard about these sets, I can't wait! At the very least it's Looney Tunes in HD.

So excited! Now, bring on the rest of the Looney Tunes and the rest of HB's excellent work! Oh, and Disney, if you're listening...get your stuff out too!

I hope the use of the plural "collectons" is indeed accurate and multiple collections are coming - uncensored and in chronological order, as Tom and Jerry are being released.

Will the platinum collection have more episodes than the DVD Golden collection. I think I am content with the DVDs if there are not more episodes on the new collection

Same here. I sampled my dvd's and for the few times I watch them, I'm satisfied with the quality. Animation looks very clean for the age they are.

But if there is more content on the blu, I might reconsider.

Plus, I have all the Golden Collection, it ws too expensive to start over with it on blu.

I find myself in the same boat. Seeing as I purchased all of the Golden Collections on their respective release days, quite a bit were spent on these. If WB wants me to upgrade, either i) a marked improvement in the PQ has to be offered on all of the shorts, and/or ii) more content is added.

Classic cartoons on BD. Sounds good to me. The older stuff with the fluid animation would be most welcomed. But if it's BD I'll buy it, even the "latter day" WB material. Those colors could really POP.

Yes, as a matter of fact, LT Vol. 1 will be "Smile, Darn Ya, Smile: Bosco - Birth of a Legend".

Bugs, Daffy, Porky, Elmer, Foghorn, Pepe, Yosemite Sam, Speedy, Road Runner, Wyle E., and all the rest of 'em on Blu-Ray....briliiant decision by WB. I just hope they don't include those PC "anti-offense" intros from the DVDs....what a stupid move. If folks get all twisted over cartoons made 70 years ago, that should be their problem.

I only have half of the Golden Collections, but I will gladly buy these sets because it's Looney Tunes in HD for crying out loud! Hopefully it's also uncensored and restored from the original elements like the Tom and Jerry set, but I think chronological order is fairly unlikely. If the first set comes out with nary a Bugs or Daffy short, the average person picking it up would be very confused. However, they do say Collections, so maybe they'll fire out an epic volume one of the really old stuff from, say, 1929 - 1934, simultaneously with a volume 2 of the following time period with more recognizable shorts starting with the first Porky short. But what we'll probably get is a mix-up of the greatest hits and some rarer classics, like the Golden Collection. And that's all fine and dandy so long as the restoration job is decent.

In fact, we'll probably get a direct upgrade of Golden Collection 1 (albeit with What's Opera, Doc?" on it this time, as everyone complained the first time)--

Not only are we dealing with a Collector's market, we're dealing with an uber-paranoid Warner that's convinced no human in North America still remembers Bugs, and they're taking no chances--Any space filled with a B/W Porky is a space wasted on the mainstream.

I just hope we get the unedited versions with Bugs smoking and the cartoon violence. I also believe there are some banned episodes one including a trip to Hitlers Germany.

Fah!--Some people ONLY think of Tex Avery from his MGM years...

I, meanwhile, wonder why we never got a Tex Avery at Warner set in the LT Golden boxes--
Unlike his spastic MGM hysteria, Tex at Termite Terrace could do both Old jokes, and quirky Odd jokes, with a deadpan timing that nothing short of genius:

(Uh, believe that cartoon was ALREADY on Set 6, and most of the entire WWII toons have been interspersed throughout the sets, including the essential Private Snafu highlights...
Geez, don'tcha even look at the Bonus Features?)

I don't own any DVDs of these so I've never seen these "bonus features".
