Do you happen to be clinically insane, or do you just hate the franchise that much?
(I'd thought you were ironically joking, but no: No fan EVER jokes about things like that.)
No joke someone said those were his favorite and complained about every Disney short and television show. In my head I'm laughing and I'm like "What an idiot. 60's ones are his favorites?!"

I mean, yeah, let's start from the end--Let's BEGIN with "Norman Normal" (or whatever that final 60's Tommy Smothers plagiarism was), go through the artsy-Chuck years of "Now Hear This", and work our way back from there...

(And no, I don't think that's what he was really saying, but it never hurts to make a public example. Well, it never hurts us, anyway. )

I was just trying to make a suggestion that would allow everyone that wants a complete set of the entire series to actually have a real shot at it happening rather than us getting these damn odd ball collections. Excuss me for brainstorming an idea that would satisfy collectors as well as the studio....

We didn't mean to hurt you, but it would be a better idea to start at the 30's as I think more collectors would want from the start then from the end

There's no "one" decade of Warner shorts, just like there was no "one" decade of Disney shorts--
Disney put their shorts in chronological order, and those waiting for the cleaner, contemporary Mickey had to put up with years of Silly Symphonies and Steamboat Willie.

What Warner DOES have (and getting paranoiacally panicked about selling) is characters--Four different directors did four very different incarnations of Bugs over three decades (McKimson's was a wiseguy, Friz's was a snotty actor, Clampett's shrieked like a maniac, and Chuck's declared war), but give us an "All-Bugs Bunny Disk 1", and we get a nice smorgasbord cross-section.
And that's why they're selling characters. Works for me.

Default OO517 and counting

If you get the 6 Golden Collection DVDs, 4 of the 5 Super Stars DVDs, the 2 Essentials DVDs, the Academy Awards DVD, the 2 Platinum BDs, the Chuck Jones BD, the SNAFU DVD and the 5 main movies that are on BD or DVD; not counting the "compilation" features/specials, you'd have 575 of the existing "Looney Tunes" shorts, specials, anniversaries and movies and be missing 517 shorts, one special and one anniversary.

You can get 61 of those 517 shorts dispersed in 51 other individual Warner/Turner DVDs and one BD. 129 more on the 5 Golden Age of LT Laserdiscs.

If I counted right.

Or they can make it about a certain topic, and your right about Disney, although I will admit the post-WWII arent as great. Good but not great

Does anyone know if the Chuck Jones Looney Tunes Mouse Collection set is simply going to be a repeat of material that will be found in one of the upcoming Looney Tunes: Platinum Collection sets? In other words, is it worth buying, or should I just wait for the same shorts to be covered in the Platinum Collection?

The Chuck Jones Mouse Collection is new material that it is extremely unlikely will be on any future platinum sets. Even if it is, it will not be more than 1 or 2 of the shorts included in this set.

You are very welcome. Let's just hope that when Platinum Vol. 2 comes out in October, there will be a deal to get them cheaper together!

Will be picking up both Looney Tunes releases, but kinda pissed off the bonus shorts are un-restored and are in SD. Such a missed opportunity.

Does anyone know why Looney Tunes Platinum Collection Volume 1 is so expensive?!

Was thinking of importing this - but not at that price...

Prices are a bit high. They are OOP so the prices might continue to get higher in the future too.

You can get half of the collection for just $7.99 at Amazon. They are probably the best from the collection too:

Also, Barnes & Noble has it for $29.99. I believe they export to the UK:
