It definitely wasn't released in the US in DigiBook format. I don't think it was released that way anywhere else, either, but I couldn't swear to it.

Hey everyone,
This thread I created is all about the rivalry between U.S.A.'s greatest animation studios, the Walt Disney Studios (alias Walt Disney Productions) & the Warner Bros. Studio. I named it "Walt Disney vs. Warner Bros. (Mickey Mouse vs. Bugs Bunny)" http://www.intanibase.com/oldforum/i...p?topic=1478.0 < old IAD forums version. http://www.intanibase.com/forum/yaf_...y.aspx#post217 < new IAD forums version. If you love Disney & Warner Bros. theatrical cartoons, than this is for you! You are welcome to enter this thread at the IAD forums anytime! EDIT: This thread has moved to the new IAD forums. So I posted the links to the old & new IAD forums versions of this thread. Last edited by tonyboy85; 01-11-2015 at 07:59 AM. |

Well WB is clearly better than Disney when it comes to keeping the original look of the animated titles on bluray. Disney destroyed most of their classics. It's a shame and disrespectful to the original creators and Walt Disney.
But anyway. It's surprising to see the collectors edition still in stock. Just waiting for the price to drop a little more so i can buy. |

I have the Platinum Vol. 2 of Looney Tunes and it's really shockingly good how well the transfers look, even with the occasional minor debris that crops up from time to time. The extras have excellent content as well. Can't wait to get the Vol. 1 in digibook. I snagged a new copy for 26 bucks recently on eBay that's in transit now. |

Now that volume 3 of the Platinum Collection isn't coming out until next year, there's plenty of time for WB to include the Bugs Bunny shorts that were cropped for widescreen from the Looney Tunes Super Stars' Bugs Bunny: Hare Extraordinaire and Looney Tunes Super Stars' Daffy Duck: Frustrated Fowl DVDs:

I'm guessing this is one of the definitive collections. I'm going to try to pick it up at Comic Con NYC this weekend.

That's a great price for the Ultimate Collector's Edition. I thought getting the digibook on ebay for 25 bucks was pretty good, but this deal rocks.

I picked up all six Golden Collections and the Blu-Rays are a huge improvement. For some reason, the compression isn't that great on the DVDs. Grainier shorts (like most pre-1950) tend to have excessive compression artifacts. Bright reds tend to bloom (check out the opening credits to Baseball Bugs). There's also some digital issues on some shorts. What's Opera Doc? has edge enhancement on DVD, but it's virtually perfect on Blu. It's sad that Warner has sort of lost interest in the cartoon collections, but maybe they can justify collector's oriented sets through Warner Archive. |
