Not trying to be snarky, just saying there's plenty of violence in Disney shorts and it doesn't sound like you're familiar with them and are relying on misinformed generalities.

Does anyone know if Vol 2 was ever released in a digibook format in the United States ? Maybe in another country ? I saw a listing on ebay for a digibook version for VOL 2 but no photo in the listing

It definitely wasn't released in the US in DigiBook format. I don't think it was released that way anywhere else, either, but I couldn't swear to it.

Well WB is clearly better than Disney when it comes to keeping the original look of the animated titles on bluray. Disney destroyed most of their classics. It's a shame and disrespectful to the original creators and Walt Disney.

But anyway. It's surprising to see the collectors edition still in stock. Just waiting for the price to drop a little more so i can buy.

Disney's stuff has been hit or miss, especially on the older blu releases. I'm keeping my fingers crossed with some upcoming ones though.

I have the Platinum Vol. 2 of Looney Tunes and it's really shockingly good how well the transfers look, even with the occasional minor debris that crops up from time to time. The extras have excellent content as well. Can't wait to get the Vol. 1 in digibook. I snagged a new copy for 26 bucks recently on eBay that's in transit now.

Is 32 dollars a good deal on the platinum collection volume 1?

Guess it all depends on how much you're willing to pay. It's been as low as $19.99 in the past.

Thanks for the info. I think I'll be cheap and hold out a little longer.

Now that volume 3 of the Platinum Collection isn't coming out until next year, there's plenty of time for WB to include the Bugs Bunny shorts that were cropped for widescreen from the Looney Tunes Super Stars' Bugs Bunny: Hare Extraordinaire and Looney Tunes Super Stars' Daffy Duck: Frustrated Fowl DVDs:

Bugs:
  • Lumber Jack-Rabbit <--- Particularly this one. I loved it as a kid.
  • Napoleon Bunny-Part
  • Bedevilled Rabbit
  • Apes of Wrath
  • From Hare to Heir
  • Lighter Than Hare
  • The Million Hare
  • Mad as a Mars Hare
  • Dr. Devil and Mr. Hare
  • False Hare

Daffy:
  • Design For Leaving
  • Stork Naked
  • This is a Life?
  • Dime to Retire
  • Ducking the Devil
  • People Are Bunny
  • Person to Bunny
  • Daffy's Inn Trouble
  • The Iceman Ducketh
  • Suppressed Duck

Mad as Mars Hare and Dr. Devil and Mr. Hare were in their correct aspect ratio on volume 1

Unless you're adverse to ordering online, there are numerous choices from several "name" Amazon Marketplace merchants (such as Deep Discount DVD) for around $19. Amazon proper has it for $21.93 as of this typing.

I'm guessing this is one of the definitive collections. I'm going to try to pick it up at Comic Con NYC this weekend.

For anyone still looking for this at a good price, or in general, amazon.ca has dropped the price on them

Digibook - ~$30 US Shipped
UCE - ~$34 US Shiopped

I believe expedited shipping is only like $1 more too.

That's a great price for the Ultimate Collector's Edition. I thought getting the digibook on ebay for 25 bucks was pretty good, but this deal rocks.

Is this set really worth buying even though I have a lot of the Golden Collection DVDs?
Whats the difference between the digibook and UCE? Thanks!

UCE has some swag - discs are the same.

I picked up all six Golden Collections and the Blu-Rays are a huge improvement. For some reason, the compression isn't that great on the DVDs. Grainier shorts (like most pre-1950) tend to have excessive compression artifacts. Bright reds tend to bloom (check out the opening credits to Baseball Bugs). There's also some digital issues on some shorts. What's Opera Doc? has edge enhancement on DVD, but it's virtually perfect on Blu.

It's sad that Warner has sort of lost interest in the cartoon collections, but maybe they can justify collector's oriented sets through Warner Archive.

Thumbs up Digibook

Thankyou Given the size of the UCE and Limited shelfspace, I'll go for the Digibook
Is the book in English or some French too since its a Canada release?
