don't know if they do anything special, but anyone can reduce the file size to anything, it just means accepting a crappier image and less features (playback options).

Yes, that is something else also to keep in mind for the future. Further refinements should be expected.

yeah but with every generation it is less and less, like Newton said "If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.". Every new encoder is built on what was learnt from the earlier ones, even if it is a new CODEC. I expect any new HVEC encoder to have already been programmed with more or less what ever made the last AVC encoder better.

The specs in the just announced Samsung Galaxy 4 phone states HEVC. I guess it means that its HEVC capable cause there is no content.
