know everyone hates part 9 but at least back then they were still trying to create new things instead of remaking/rehashing the same tired old material.
I enjoy the added mythology, but the lack of Jason is what hurt the film the most.

So they would just show Jason lying dead in his grave for 90 minutes?

Honestly, all of the slasher icon films are "bulls***" in terms of real world logic (and even movie world logic sometimes), none are exempt from that, not even the precious original Halloween (The moment Myers is stabbed, shot six times and falls to his doom, yeah...)

But "bulls***" is what makes certain horror and slasher films fun and rewatchable, in my opinion. The ones without any "bulls***" like Maniac, Henry and the original Chainsaw (the sole icon film that's an exception) aren't fun at all, and they don't have to be because the art is far more impacting. There's room for all of it in our collections.

I watched Jason X on Netlifx yesterday and I forgot how terrible that one was too. I think it might even be slightly worse than Jason Goes to Hell, which I didn’t think was possible. The only reason I rank Jason Goes to Hell slightly higher is because of the actor who played Creighton Duke. His character sucked but I liked that actor in The X-Files.

steven williams is a badass, see i can see them make a story about Pamela trying to close the camp and doing all that, or even an origin story with him as a boy and drown.

have Pamela go bat shit crazy at some point and yes it won't be in tune to the Original but it will be different. i like the idea of going back to part one, for me i don't give a damn if Jason is in it or not. call it what it was going to be Called i believe camp Blood, i don't give a shit if Jason is in it or not as long as it's good.

as for Part 9 and the tribute to The Hidden yes but the difference between that and part 9 and Adam Marcus thank you i forgot his name, is that the Hidden is an enjoyable film it's not one of my favorites but i can go back to it every once in a blue moon though i haven't seen it in years.

Evil Dead Deadite i don't think i'e ever heard anyone refer jason to being one of them. he should than be saying I'll swallow your Soul that would be great but not that it is really needed.

but than i'm fine if they never make another sequel or prequel 12 movies is i think enough of them counting Freddy Vs. Jason. it's not like the series isn't making any money today ya know? another reason why it would't work today was it would prolly be PG-13 and suck dick cause it would be edited by the MPAA yet again and than they'd use CGI for blood and so forth instead of Practical Fx.

which is always better in my opinion. for a film like the Ring for example i get why CGI for that is used and it makes sense. but Not For Friday the 13th.

in short it just wouldn't be the same, and for god's sake if they do another one make likable characters you actually care about and leave the douchebag's out of it which seem to be in every horror film today

you better believe Bad filmmaking, i've only seen part 9 to hazard a guess 30 times or so or more since (1994) when it hit video in (1994) Jason X i've seen i think all the way through 3 times and i own that one on dvd as well. maybe 5 times and Freddy Vs. Jason i've seen like 6 or 7 times i think it's less than 10 times. and The remake i've seen i think 2 or 3 times

but parts 1-8 i cannot count how many times i've seen them since i grew up with those 8 films. that's what new line films are to me, though like i said i do enjoy Freddy Vs. Jason

for what it is and for me that's the best one they made out of the 4 films they made.

what's that tell you? X does have some good kills though but just cause it's got good kills does't mean i think the movie is good

This series never really called to me, but I grabbed the set (with the first 8) at a decent price and have been working through them sequentially (slowly). Holy shit, how many sharks did the 7th just jump!? Don't get me wrong, I found it mostly entertaining (as with the previous films in the series) but I'd rather re-watch almost anything I own over this...

i've always as long as could remember hated the term jump the shark. and i love the make-up on jason and don't really give a shit that it's Carrie Vs. Jason at all. they did something different and for me it worked, however the doctor subplot with Bernie from weekend At Bernie's Terry Kiser should have been left out of the script and the film as well

that and the fact that the MPAA raped the film and more or less gave it a G rating, it might as well be G ya know?

that unmasked makeup did not work for me at all. It wasn't bad but it did not fit the series

The New Blood would have been one of the best entries in the series if it weren't for the censorship, IMO. It truly is a crying shame that the film footage is gone and can never be restored.

I still think it’s the most underrated film in the series.

...could’ve been even better if the MPAA hadn’t raped it.

oh i couldn't agree more and it's got Kane Hodder's favorite Kill the sleeping bag kill.

it's also interesting how he was nearly killed falling down those stairs near the end of the film. it was just pure luck he wasn't killed.

the footage of what does exist wasn't that bloody i mean shit Maniac was a far bloodier film and that didn't get raped by the MPAA

I don’t care for Jason’s unmasked look in 7 either. Too cartoonish for me. A lot of people seem to love it though.

It looks absolutely stupid, like, laughably so. Even Jason unmasked in The Final Chapter looks kind of stupid. It was a bit more effective in the first couple of films when he had the face of a deformed / mentally challenged man, but any time you remove the mask of a character like that it removes the allure. The hockey mask looks cool and it should have been left a bit more to the imagination as to what he looks like underneath.

yes im an old man, ill stop yelling and go away now.
Here's the problem. They used very little of the Jason character in the film. This is ONLY what people wanted to see. Nobody cares about anything else really. That would be like making John Wick 3, without John Wick. If they would have removed Jason entirely. The movie would have made 10 cents.

Want proof? I saw part 9 in the theater opening day. Pretty much full. After he "died" the audience slowly became silent as the film progressed. Realizing the Jason character is not part of the story anymore. Anything that happened on screen(any kills, violence, anything) got next to a zero reaction. When Jason showed up at the very end of the film, the audience erupted in cheers. That's right cheers. I've screen tons of films in theaters, that was one of last major audience reactions I seen like that in all my film going since.
