I don't think there should be an X/NC-17 rating. R should be the highest rating, and nothing should ever be cut to get one. Just my two cents.

Since next year is the 40th anniversary of the original film’s release, is it likely we will get a new edition of these films?

Want proof? I saw part 9 in the theater opening day. Pretty much full. After he "died" the audience slowly became silent as the film progressed. Realizing the Jason character is not part of the story anymore. Anything that happened on screen(any kills, violence, anything) got next to a zero reaction. When Jason showed up at the very end of the film, the audience erupted in cheers. That's right cheers. I've screen tons of films in theaters, that was one of last major audience reactions I seen like that in all my film going since.
I admit that I haven’t been a huge fan of Halloween 3, but Jason Goes to Hell is as bad as people want Halloween 3 to be. I know Jason is technically in JGTH while MM is not in H3 at all, but JGTH really isn’t a Friday movie either.

The lack of Jason in Jason Goes to Hell isn’t why it’s bad in my opinion. I’m fine with pretty much any idea as long as it’s done well. I may not like it but I’ll respect it. But Jason Goes to Hell is just a terrible movie on many levels.

oh i agree it's bad on so many levels. ya know if they do another friday film without Jason i'm fine with that if it's done right. but if it's done don't lie to your audience either and say it's a jason film. tell them upfront that Jason isn't going to be in it and it may suck ass but than it may end up being a great film too...

but they didn't do that with Part 9 it was promoted as a Jason film hell even ****ing called that too, yet he was only in like what 5 minutes maybe 10 if that minutes of the whole film. that's lying to the fanbase and why well partly why it flopped.

and partly why it's hated so much and rightly so, i think Halloween had the right idea with Halloween 3. i think it's a great film and i actually wish they had done more films like that and would have loved to see a sequel to that one that continued with the masks.

i think Halloween 3 is a vastly underrated film to be honest while friday part 6 is overrated. not that i think it's a bad film i don't think that at all i just think it's overrated that's all

I really like Halloween III, too. It’s a strange, creepy little film that’s very effective. I also think Friday the 13th Part V is a very good sequel. I don’t really care that Jason isn’t in it because it’s just an entertaining movie. Lots of ridiculous scenes and funny characters and it also has the best score since the original in my opinion. Parts 3 and 4 largely recycled music from the first two films and Part V has some great new music. It’s also a well-made film with some nice cinematography.

my favorite music is of the 3rd film cause it's just so WTF music that it's fun to listen to. part 5 also is one of the best ones too in my opinion. i don't give a shit either that Jason isn't it it. see growing up for me i never gave a shit either back than that it wasn't a Jason film. i still wish they had waited until Corey Feldman was done filming The Goonies which was why he wasn't the star of part 5.

but i also am not going to say that i prefer him to be in part 5 since the goonies was a huge part of my childhood and adulthood as well. i love and adore that film.

having said that them making Tommy in part 5 really ****ed up in the head after part 4 really worked well and though i'm glad they didn't make him the killer in part 6 and made him be the hero in that one again.

it was really for me i think written well that he would be messed up in the enough to be convincing that he would be the next Jason. though i'm again glad they didn't go that route and part 4 hinted that as well i think.

you are right though part 5 kinda does have the i think Vibe of the Original film it's nowhere near as good as the Original by any means but it as the last one filmed where the killer wasn't the star and that was really missed in the later sequels i think

It's those dayum enchiladas line never gets old. That's why Part 5 is timeless and the best. It has the best cast and jokes of every movie in the series. I never ate an enchilada before watching this movie probably 7 at the time and I associate the word enchilada with this shitting scene every time. classic.

This is true. But I wanted to point out that, yes "Jason" is not in the film. But "Jason" is in the entire film. You know what I'm trying to say? Something part 9 didn't have.

One the main reasons why part 9 is terrible imo. New Line produced it. Everything about it had the New Line "feel". Not New Line when they first started. The later NL films where everything looked strait to video cheap. Part 10 too. Although 10 was at least better.

Another thing I disliked. The music score. Da Da, DAAAA, DAAAAAA!!!!! Hey guys, make it louder! LOL.

New Line is one of my favorite movie company's actually and yes they've put out a lot of shit but they've done a lot of great ones too outside of horror. but as much as i love the company they were the wrong company to have Jason i think.

hell Empire would have been better had they still been around, course the film would have looked far far cheaper than any of the ones at that point but they prolly would have done a better job.

i'm not a picky guy when it comes to watching a horror film. for me if i like the cast or someone in it, or someone behind the scenes who directed/produced it or wrote it you get the idea or if the trailer catches my eye or a movie company i love puts it out.

much like (1978)'s The Evil a Roger Corman film i watched that cause it was a New World film and i really loved that for example.

but i like good writing yes the 80's friday films have a kind of formula but there's for me something about the first 5 films that stand out for me the most. i think it's the characters mostly and the kills too.. the same thing with Halloween 2 i love that one too and by that i mean the (1981) Halloween 2 that dude who sings his own version of Amazing grace in that is funny as hell.

there's just something about 80's horror films that is missing today, the characters, the gore of course, some of them were Original ideas too like the ending of Sleepaway Camp for example. the humor too i think, most horror films today have ******* characters, sometimes only one sometimes the whole cast where you don't give a damn who dies in the film or not.

CGI horror unless it's a horror film that can't be done practical. i'm sorry if i'm repeating myself but i love 80's horror. but my favorite era for horror is 70's horror in fact those had more Original ideas than 80's seemed to cause they did shit that hadn't been done before in some of them. Tourist Trap comes to mind a brilliant film and i can't think of a film before that, that used those same ideas or i could be wrong maybe there is

I’ve decided to sell my Friday the 13th double feature discs ( for 1-8) and just buy the new 1-8 movie collection. The reason is I need the money right now that I figure I can sell the double features for.

The new 8 set will also save some shelf space. Although, boy... the cover is terrible. It looks like Jason has the build of a kid with a large head. His machete also looks too small. Oh, well.

Part V isn't amazing by any means, but it's not nearly as bad as a lot of people make it out to be. It may kinda mediocre, but it's certainly watchable. I really don't mind the whole fake Jason aspect.. I mean at least they tried something different (ha, even if it didn't quite pan out).

IMO the worst thing about it is Tommy.. I just find the actor beyond annoying. There are some decent kills and humor is pretty solid.. ha, especially the scene you mentioned! The pacing really hurts it.. it just feels like it drags on. That being said, it's still better than anything from Part 8 on.
