Yes same here. The remake is vastly superior IMHO and is actually an extremely solid and well made thriller. I love it personally.

The original LHOTL is at least a very bizarrely memorable movie because of its weird tonal shifts, amateurish production, and its soundtrack. The remake has a more competent story and performances, and is technically better-made all around, but is considerably more bland than the original. That film sticks with you. The remake does not.

You don't like it when your killer just drives around in a car for 25% of the movie?! Cookie lady?

I'll have to check out the remake then. Cuz yeah, I am not a fan of the original honestly. Even considering the time it was made and being his first feature...I find it a chore to get through.

Speaking of, not amazing, but I really enjoyed the new THE TOWN THAT DREADED SUNDOWN.... reboot? Not sure what to call it, since it's not a remake/the original movie itself is a plot point...

Lol. When it's pulled off masterfully like John Carpenter did it works. I'm not quite sure what happened with Halloween 5 but the hiring of Dominick Othenin-Girard wasn't the best start.

I am also very curious about the remake to TOWN as well. I highly recommend giving The Last House on the Left remake a go!

I thought "TOWN" was the sequel? I think it's pretty freakin' awesome. I believe it was/is on Netflix.

Yup. The remake is as bland and as boring as they come.

5 hours left to pick up the Blu Ray to the fan film "Jason Rising". $35 shipped to your door isn't cheap, but the trailer looks interesting and the project has the support of the folks behind "Never Hike Alone" so it will hopefully turn out to be at least as good. Based on the trailer below, I think it looks like it should be pretty solid and may be the only good Friday/Jason film we get for a while.

Both terrific remakes or, in the case of Sundown, reboot.

True, but when have the horrible photoshopped covers ever represented the movies?

I remember about 10 years ago, they released pt 5 with a bad photoshopped cover of this isolated creepy house, that in no way resembles any location in the movie.

Just picked up the 8-movie blu-ray w/slipcover at Walmart today. Pulled the 3D glasses from my DVD set and now I'm happy. Now I have to find Jason X on blu-ray, and Freddy vs Jason.

Picked up the latest Never Hike Alone BD. Lighting doesn't really do these photos justice but I especially like the disc art. I only saw the film once on Youtube and thoroughly enjoyed it despite the obvious stream quality issues. Hoping that my expectations for improvements on BD aren't too unrealistic.

[Show spoiler]

I'm super bummed that I missed out on the 2nd chance blu ray. I messaged Womp Stomp films about whether or not there was any way to purchase any of the left over 2nd printing copies but never heard back. I had no idea that they were doing a second pressing until days before they were shipping them out. I'm not about to pay the $100 plus ebay asking price but would happily pick up a copy if I could find someone selling direct.
