Platinum Dunes spent far too much on the F13 remake. No Friday the 13th film should ever cost 20 million to make. Honestly, I believe it cost that much because of inflated producer's fees. Halloween 2007 & 2018 both cost 15 and 10 million respectively and they look just as good as F13 09 production-wise.

Only just realised that the man behind Jason X also directed House III. Suddenly it all makes sense.

For those days when you're too lazy to get the actual blu-rays out, Shudder now has all the Paramount Fridays to stream.

luckily i am one of the ones who didn't sell their digital copies off, to lower the price of the complete box set several years ago. Like a lot of people did. lol
so i can just stream it off Vudu if i get that lazy lol.

It did cost too much for an F13 movie, but it also made back it's entire budget on opening day, and did $40 it's opening weekend. Any future movies shouldn't cost more than $10 million or a "Saw" movie. Those are super cheap and make a ton, even when they underperform.

I love the 1986 original, but the others (parts 2, 3, and 4) do nothing for me.

The Friday remake is so strange. The opening what, 15 to 20 minutes was about as perfect as I could wish for in a Friday remake. Then the rest of the movie kicked in . . .

If the 12 disc set will be coming out this summer as Vincent posted, when should we expect an announcement? Is this month out of the question?

I'd say the earliest would be next month, if it is intended to be an August release (Scream have just done their July announcements). It's probably been said already, but Friday the 13th was released theatrically on 9th May 1980. The 9th falls on a Saturday this year, but if Scream were to announce it on Friday 8th May they could still get away with the '40th Anniversary' tie-in.

Of course, it's such a huge release that Scream could announce it any time. But if it was coming in September I'd expect early June for the announcement, and if in October it should be early July. Can't see it being any later than that, unless present events force their hand.

That would be great if it gets announced by next month. At this point it has already been leaked so we just need a confirmation and the details of the set.

I don't follow this thread on a daily basis but where is the confirmation that Shout Factory is releasing this?

I just bought the Paramount 8-movie set (the only 8 movies I actually care about; though me and The Final Chapter will always have that complicated history) for $17.99. (I figure Amazon/Paramount's thinking was... you know, there was a Friday the 13th in March, so it was a minor gimmick to drop the price for the "holiday.") I gathered it would never be that cheap again, now it's even more expensive ($24+) than it was before ($22.99).

But I would re-buy again if... see, of all the movies in the set, I was really shocked by Part 2. I thought it looked kind of waxy, pasty. That look I keep finding a lot of Lionsgate's releases have in common (especially the first 2 Warlock's).

That's the best word I have to describe "the look" I always dread seeing with some Blu's. Something about Part 2 just didn't look right. Parts 1, 3, 4, 5, 6- all excellent. 7- good. 8 I thought looked a little soft.

I know this is the last thing in the world to expect, hope for, but... perhaps if Shout! Factory gives the films their own discs. At least, just the 80's films.

If anything like this is in the cards (I have no idea what they did with the Halloween set)... I'd be grateful.

I'd be shocked if the films weren't on seperate discs. Every other horror collection from them, including their sets for The Fly, Halloween, Critters, The Omen, and even smaller sets like The Amityville Horror and It's Alive have all had their films be on seperate discs. I'd say its guaranteed.

There's been no official confirmation. It's been leaked by a couple of folks (including the director of JGTH) that a new box set is coming; one of the forum members here said that he knows a guy who works for Shout Factory who says that they are doing it, which makes sense as they now have deals with Warner and Paramount.

Uncut JGTH, here we come!

(Perhaps I'll add that to the reasons this set might be worth picking up.)
(I mean, obviously it's worth...I just mean, I know this'll be expensive.) (I can feel it, already.)

(Like: in my bones.)

The director has talked about doing a longer cut. Hope it happens.
