Plus the box set will have an excerpt from the Crystal Lake Memories book, although I'm guessing most die-hard fans already have the whole book.

Also, there is a counselor's patch!!!!!

Yes, and even the condensed version of the book will expose the book, which also came out in 2004 to some of the younger fans who do not have it and maybe prompt them to buy it.

Other than no 3-D and potentially some compression issues with the double-feature discs, I would imagine fans would be pretty psyched for this. The price seems reasonable too.

Excitement for the collection went down a couple notches. Words cannot express how much I hate that style of packaging. Attractive as it may be, it's not practical. Hopefully the UK releases it around the same time. Theirs are always more practical and safe for your discs.

Why would it be any "compression issues"?

They are sub-90 minutes movies. There is more than enough space on a BD50 to have two AVC encoded movies with a great bit-rate and without any issues.

This thread has just made me laugh time and time again. People wanted the f13 set. It got announced. People were complaining that the 3d disc wasn't the "new" 3d. Artwork gets released (which I think it pretty neat looking actually) and people are *****ing about that.

So true. I just don't get it. You can't make everyone happy I guess.

The art work looks nice. The PACKAGING is the problem. Those awful cardboard slots damage the discs over time if you plan on watching them pretty often. As I said, they're just not practical.

So I get the pleasure of spending $100 on a set of discs that I get to clean glue off of whenever I take them out like with the Universal Monster set? I think I will just wait for them individually. Yes, I am *****ing about the packaging.

+1 I couldn't be happier with the set.

I included the 'potentially' qualifier because I was just speculating based upon the pre-existing releases: Part I is 95 minutes and takes up 28 GB. Part II is 89 minutes and is on a BD-50 (don't have file size handy), and III is 90 minutes and is on a BD-50 (ditto).

That part is legitimately disappointing, if not unexpected - the anaglyph 3-D on the pre-existing disc is, as already noted, possibly the worst ever, and with WB doing 3-D releases of House of Wax and Dial M for Murder, there was at least the possibility of real 3-D this time around.

I agree with those whom are concerned about the packaging. I had to send my American Universal Monsters set back to Universal because of the glue issue and do not want to go through the same thing with this set. I would have preferred a box set like the Crystal Lake to Manhattan one where each film got it's own keep case, they were the slim keep cases, but that is okay. At least the discs were secure.

Since Paramount and Platinum Dunes has announced a new film in the works, it is almost a guarantee that they will release the Final Chapter, New Beginning/Jason Lives, New Blood/Manhattan, and Hell/X discs as individual disc releases at some point.

Don't get me wrong, I WANT THESE DISCS, but I do not ever want to go through what I went through with the Universal box set ever again.

Can someone with more knowledge than me answer me a question plz.
The press release said 11 hrs of "previously released extras" does this not inc the commentaries which would excede 11hrs by themselves.,tia.

Cropsy, no one knows about commentary tracks yet. They have not made an official extra feature list announcement.

As far as the packaging goes, the cardboard pages will not damage a Blu-ray. I own the Deluxe Edition set that Paramount did and all my discs are fine. As long as you don't have melting glue, you are fine. So when you get your set, check all of your discs for melting glue. If THAT is going to happen, chances are it will happen right away.

Since I have none of these on Blu, I am excited. I could understand the outrage if they included Poltergeist III in the set, but come on, FvJ and the remake belong in a Friday the 13th boxset.

Someone on this thread said that this box set is the definition of "thrown together." Personally, I do not have a problem with that. They put every film ever made in the franchise in HD, and every single DVD and Blu-ray extra feature ever made all together in one box. That is total bad ass if you ask me.

The Crystal Lake to Manhattan DVD set came out back in 2004. This is nine years later, and undoubtedly there are fans that are younger who never saw the extras from that particular set. The material will be new to them. Also, there are new fans arising every day, so to some of the brand new and younger fans, they will be seeing some of the films themselves for the very first time.

Also, REMEMBER THIS we are getting the Crystal Lake Memories SEVEN HOUR LONG double Blu-ray set. THAT will be out extra features to compliment the Complete Collection box set, not to mention the new On Location at Blairstown book.
Not to mention the 3D in Part 3 is awful...like many other 3D films back then. I will never understand all the crying over this. 99% of us have never seen it in 3D, so who cares.

People saying they won't buy the set if they don't upgrade the 3D just for a few people is stupid imo.

If you don't love the movies, don't buy the set and move on!

so far i'm only torn on whether to purchase this on release day & have a marathon ON Friday the 13th or wait for the inevitable price drop during black friday in just a couple months... (the next Friday the 13th is in Dec. this year)

Exactly.

Since I already own Part 1, 2, FvJ & 2009 and my favorites are parts 1-4, I really don't feel like ordering this set without the BD3D.
