I don't get it either. Their lamest excuse is that since they've only seen the movie in 2-D for the last 20 years, that's good enough for them. Well, they also have only seen most of the sequels in standard-definition for the last 20 years, and VHS before that - so by their reasoning, they should be happy with VHS ports, or at the least, the earlier DVD's as that's all they've seen before and it's been good enough. 99% of these fans haven't seen #4-10 in high-def before, and they have loved the movies regardless in standard-def, so I throw their argument right back at them: you don't need HD as hardly anyone ever saw the films that way, so just be happy for standard def discs.

It is NOT unreasonable to expect, or even demand, a proper 3-D Blu-Ray of this film with today's technology and 3-D friendly home theater world. Can you actually see ANY other studio today releasing an anaglyph DVD, much less a Blu, to today's market? Audiences and customers are a lot more sophisticated in 2013 and red/blue is simply unacceptable today, and actually embarrassing if coming from such a powerhouse studio as Warners. Of course, they can always shrug off the blame and say that's all Paramount gave them access to release. Which may be true. But that doesn't mean this release is not simply another half-a***ed money-grab. Mark my words, they'll give us the proper 3-D version eventually - probably in 4 years time when this set will be marked down to $25, and they can then put out the next super-duper-definitive we-finally-got-it-right end-all final last complete no-more-of-this-crap set for $150, with Part 3 finally in 3-D!

Seriously, this series is a HUGE cashcow for Paramount, and now Warner. It doesn't pay for them to do everything the right way the first time around. That's why we've seen individual releases, box sets, deluxe editions, and now this set which is comprised of 50% of discs previously available. They want you to keep rebuying and rebuying and rebuying. They will always hold back something so that they'll get you to return 5 years from now to buy it again. I bet they even have a pristine uncut print of #2 in their vaults, ready to be unleashed in 2050 after they've milked the series another 10 times in the interim.

Another excellent post.
My thought has been if Warner took the time and $$ to release Dial M in the proper format and then took the enormous time and $$ to basically restore House Of Wax, why on earth would they simply shove another BD anaglyph on franchise fans? It doesn't make any sense to me. I'm still wondering where the info came from and who posted the link for a disc with 3D, DVD and Anaglyph 3D included.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the set will indeed include a Part 3 in the proper format. I can't imagine it happening any other way. I guess we'll all know on the preorder date because surely a complete description will be there for all to read.

It reminds me of when users were attacking fans on here for saying they felt some of the Elm Street transfers were too dark, which was a legitimate complaint and is inexcusable with the WORLDWIDE popularity of the franchise yet we are the bad guys because we don't want to spend money on subpar transfers even if they are cheaply priced.

Personally, I much rather had an Elm Street boxset at $100+ with top shelf transfers versus what we got for $30 and don't know why any fan should be attacked for saying so.

Glad to see more people speaking up and saying they want Friday 3 in real 3-D instead of acting like WB is doing us a favor - last time I checked there is huge interest in this boxset and we are paying THEM for it, right?

I guess I can see why these companies don't respect the fans, some people on here don't even respect themselves enough to think they deserve better than an inferior product.
Excellent post, and very valid points. I just don't don't get that mentality either. Here's our one chance to get this all released right - and this includes getting the one filmed in 3D to be released in, you know, 3D, and there are actually people complaining that people want it released properly.

Speaking of Best Buy..... Maybe they'll get this early like they did the Elm St. Set.

Since my favorites of the franchise are parts 1 through 3 (already have 1 & 2) a re-hash of part 3 will KILL the deal for me. I'll buy the package IF, and only if part 3 is in the proper format.

One hint that makes me think that part III will still be anaglyph-

Notice in the description: "Disc 4 - Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (1984) NEW TO BLU-RAY"

Well, if part III is truly in blu-ray 3D, not anaglyph, then that would also be "New to blu-ray", right? Because it's never been released on blu-ray 3D before. So this makes me think that it will still be anaglyph.

No way I would pre-order this without knowing all the details. Besides, when this comes out, I'm sure there will be some great prices between Amazon and Best Buy.

I would be very surprised if it wasn't the same disc that was already released.
