The whiners really annoy me since they only see the negatives of everything, which makes discussing movies and home video releases annoying in my opinion.

The only negative to the set I can think of, is IF it does not include the unrated version of Jason Goes To Hell, lack of true 3D part 3 and both R & unrated versions of part 1. Other than that, it's a great looking set on paper.

I'm not a fan of every Star Trek original crew films, but I'm happy to have the set that collects the series. All series have good and lackluster installments. So expecting a box set to cater only to specific films is stupid and unrealistic. So stop the *****ing already. It's obnoxious.

And yes others have pointed out the hypocrisy of people clamoring and crying for HD releases of the films and a box set, and when that is announced, what's the reaction? More *****ing, crying and whining that it includes some films you don't like. Well boo hoo, it's a complete series set, thus it includes everything and that's a good thing.

My guess is they will include the unrated version of both Part 1 & JGTH. But no R rated version for either film.

My guess is that the first three, Freddy vs. Jason, and the remake will be the exact same discs that are on the market now, just thrown in the set to make it complete. With Jason Goes to Hell, I am sure they will offer the rated and unrated versions like the DVD did. We just have to wait for more official word. I am very excited to read this news though.

It is an awesome year to be a horror fan, and especially a Jason fan:

1. Friday the 13th Complete Blu-ray Collection
2. Crystal Lake Memories Blu-ray release
3. On Location at Blairstown: The Making of the original Friday the 13th book
4. Announcement that Paramount will be making new Friday the 13th films!

I am extremely pleased that we are finally getting a complete boxset of this series. I have to agree with all of the board members that have a positive outlook on this set, because I remember a time when there was no Friday the 13th on digital media and we clamored for it (It took a triple dip on DVD for them to get it right, but yeah), and now we have the entire series on the ultimate HD digital media format!

Yes, I wanted them to be individual discs. Yes, I wanted Part 3 in Real 3D. Yes, I wanted them to magically find all the uncut material and integrate it back into the films. Yes, I wanted them to throw a few episodes of F13: The Series in there. And yes, I still hope that Jason Goes To Hell is the unrated version (There's still hope for that!) But being realistic, I am content that we are even getting this series in complete form on Blu-Ray at all.

Honestly, last year at this time, did anyone ever expect to have the entire film series in one comprehensive set on BD? I didn't, and that's why I am grateful.

For someone with very low expectations I believe that the set is fantastic, as you put it.

Comparing it with this, like I said, is lame.

11 hours of previously released special features and a 40-page soft cover book. The book is excerpted from Crystal Lake Memories: The Complete History of Friday The 13th, a fan-favorite volume that's viewed as the ultimate memoir of the series, and highlights some of the 200 interviews, 600 photos, storyboards, concept art and more. Also included is a brand new, official Camp Crystal Lake embroidered Counselor Patch.
The NoES set didn't even have all the extras from the fantastic DVD set from 99. Also, where's the NoES 40-page soft cover book?

Honestly, who didn't expect it? Paramount and Warner are both going to continue to milk this franchise for as long as they can.

You are not kidding there. If you told me about this set a year ago, I would have said, "That is impossible due to Paramount owning the first eight and Warner owning the rest," but the studios have been able to come to an agreement so that they can make the money and we, the fans, can have the Friday the 13th box set to retire all Friday the 13th box sets!

Not to mention Paramount having the rights to make new movies for the next five years telling us that we will be getting new Jason movies!

Kind of 'on the fence' about getting this. I only own the first film on BD. I wouldn't say I'm a huge F13 fan, but this set does look very interesting. Here are my questions:

1) How come all the bonus material is on dvd? Is most of SD anyway? I thought this kind of odd.
2) I'm definitely in for Crystal Lake memories when that comes out, will some of the bonus content on this set be available on that documentary?
3) How is the book? I see they are including an excerpted copy with this set.
4) Any idea on price? I mean $15/movie = $150, so maybe $99 on Amazon?

Thank you!

1. You are correct, they will be putting, probably, all the old extras from the various DVD box sets and releases on the disc. Unless they put the old DVD extras on the Blu-rays with the films. The Elm Street box set had the films, aside from the first one, on double feature discs AND threw the extras on the discs with the films and offered a DVD with new stuff. We will just have to wait for more details.

2. I do not think the Crystal Lake Memories release will offer the extras offered on this. That itself is going to be a two Blu-ray set containing a 7 hour documentary! That in itself is a huge extra feature that compliments the new Blu-ray set!

3. The book is awesome! You must get it. It is complete and comprehensive with a lot of information and great photos and artwork.

4. They announced the SRP of $129.99, which means amazon will probably have it for $100 or less when they start taking pre-orders for it.

Thank you Rich! I can safely say my horror collection has grown considerably between the Universal Monsters set, all the many great Scream Factory releases, and now, possibly, this.
I'll be keeping tabs on this set, as I think I will be getting it.

Then you will probably be waiting for the inevitable price drops which might take an additional six months to a year.

I love extras. They are the reason who keep buying the same films over and over again. Of course in this case, we are getting most of the series on Blu-ray for the first time, so that also is a big reason to cash up for it.

You expected WB (Who had only released their most current and profitable films featuring Jason while leaving the other two in the dust) and Paramount (Who quit releasing the series on BD after three films) to team up and release a comprehensive set?

No one saw this coming until WB did the Paramount deal. And even then, it was iffy until the hints and rumors.

Definitely getting, but 129 is kinda steep. Hoping for around 69 with a real good sale.

I hate having to hold onto the old special edition DVD's to find out if they port over the commentaries. The part 3, 3-D blu-ray notoriously did not port over the commentary from the special edition DVD.

I'm hopeful the "Jason Goes To Hell" & "Jason X" discs will feature everything though.

Why not? Studios/companies are releasing movies by other studios all the time. Lionsgate released My Bloody Valentine '81 on BD (a Paramount film), WB just released the Mad Max trilogy (including an MGM film), Universal just released a Hitchcock set (with a Warner film), Lionsgate released a Tarantino box (with a Warner and Universal film).

Even still, a set of the Paramount films was inevitable (they even said they'd release the rest when a new F13 came out). As for the Warner sequels...it was only a matter of time.
