I will be picking this set for sure. I still have my copy of the remake with the slip.
I will be hanging onto it though, 2 years ago at Comic Con, Jared Padalecki signed the cover for me.

not correct!

the unrated version on u.s. laserdisc was done by image entertainment. i have it here

There's also Scream being uncut on laser and nothing else American since (some other region dvds at least), but that's not really Warner related.
afaik, there was only one country that had in the uncut version on dvd and that was japan.

true on nightmare 5 uncut, but wrong on scream uncut -> japanese dvd is uncut

I hear what you're saying. Part 5 is as far as I care to go but I'd give MORE than what they're asking just for a part 3 in REAL 3D.

However unless you are a major fan of these movies or have no patience then i understand the sense of urgency to buy them.
If not then wait as we all know it will come down in price, if not within a few months but definetly in the black friday sales.
I'm a huge fan of the series, and think this set looks great. That said, I think I'll wait until BF. Wouldn't be surprised if they have this on sale then.

I don't care if it goes on sale the week after it comes out, I'm an uber fan of this series and will pay what I must for day one access. I already have that day planned with my wife. Making her a nice dinner and just marathoning through the first few movies and finishing up the next day or two after! I treat certain horror series like some people treat religion. Sounds weird, I know but I loves my horror. Just had a Halloween marathon with her!

i hope so. I don't think anyone would cry if they left the rated cut off the set. I personally like Jason goes to hell. I don't think I saw the R cut since I saw the movie in theater

There is NOTHING like movies from the 80s! NOTHING!

Ti West did a good job at replicating a specific era in House of the Devil. It's just a shame the movie was absolute garbage.

EDIT* Just realised somebody posted something similar directly after you

I agree about the 80s comment. I can just look at a horror movie and tell what decade it was made in, of course by obvious gives like clothes, hair and just my overall knowledge of horror movies, lol...but the 80s had something magical about them.

Eventually, the price of this boxset is expected to be reduced, after it's released a few weeks afterwards. Any new blu-ray release, is going to cost more.

I bet it'll go back down to 90 before it's released. I see prices fluctuate so often when they're in preorder status.

  • Stick with natural looking actors and actresses, preferably unknowns.

This should be a general rule for most horror movies. For relatability, these films need people that you could theoretically come across in everyday life. In this case you want a cast that looks like it might actually go camping, not a cast that looks like it just got done at a photoshoot for the latest designer clothing line. Since this is an 80's series, you'll need to stick with 80's hairstyles and wardrobes.
Do we really need another "vintage F13", when we already got 8 of them? And I don't agree with this part of your list. Call me crazy, but I'd rather watch hot people (girls, in my case) get killed by Jason vs average (or worse) looking folks. Anyways, most of the girls in parts 1-8 were hot (or at least attractive) to begin with. Also, I have no idea why you would want it to take place in the '80s.

The big thing they need to stay away from, is stupid gimmicks. Part VII started the gimmick trend, and it just got worse from then on with Jason Goes to Hell, Jason X, and Freddy vs Jason (Jason Takes Manhattan could've worked, if the movie actually took place in the Big Apple). The snow gimmick might work, since it's not that outlandish, like Jason in space was. But if they decided to make an '80s F13, I'm pretty sure that gimmick wouldn't pan out.

I would like to see a FT13th plot revolving around a traveling carnival or circus that sets up camp at Crystal Lake.

Guess I was late to this news since it happened over a couple months ago.

Friday The 13th part 3 Jason Voorhees "Richard J. Brooker" passed away. http://sellergrendesign.wordpress.co...-brooker-dead/

Isn't that what The Funhouse is for?

I would have liked the remake not to be so literal. It would have been cool if in the reboot both Jason AND Pamela were offing people at camp.

I think the 20 minute long set up story in the reboot really hurt it. It was so much set up for nothing really.

From what I recall about the 'uncut' version of Scream available on some DVD releases like a Hong Kong release for instance. Is that they used the laserdisc master and stretched to the image to a fake 16.9 anamorphic image. If this is the case with the Japan DVD, I don't know, but it wouldn't surprise me given all the complaints over the stretching of the image I've seen for other 'uncut' DVD releases.
