Thanks for all the wise words of wisdom!
I'll keep my eyes peeled, especially around Halloween.
Btw, this is DEFINITELY one of the nicest threads on this site!

I finally pulled the trigger on this, I had several unused best buy gift cars lying around. I know the set has some issues, but I have seen the most gnashing of teeth over the Jason Goes To Hell which is one I have never owned on any format.

This is not yet the definitive set. No commentaries for Part 2 and 3 and no individual boxes with original poster art.

Friday the 13th Part 3 in polarized 3D. (PM me)
Crystal Lake Memories
His Name was Jason
Uncut versions of the later films (6-8 I believe) Only poor quality sources available, so these were available on the DVD's but not the Blu Rays.
JGTH: TFF Unrated is all covered, already have that, The 2 standalone Docs(Crystal Lake Memories and His Name was Jason) I have those as well, but do you have links to the 3D of part 3 and the other uncut versions? I thought the only BD that did not include an uncut version was The Final Friday in the Box Set?

This has a DVD release correct just not Blu-ray? if so you have a link?

If I can find enough extras maybe we will make up a companion BD for the Box Set of missing goodies.

It had a DVD release, that is true, but only in the From Crystal Lake to Manhattan set. The original DVD release was some sort of weird composite:

[Show spoiler]Annie's death is longer like in the Unrated version but Mrs. Voorhees' death was shorter. Shorter than the theatrical version in fact.

At any rate, all Blu-rays of the original only have the Unrated cut:
http://www.dvdcompare.net/comparison....php?fid=13916

Also there's more missing extras not found on the Blu-rays and thanks to Donl1282 for reminding me! There's also:

-Audio Commentary on F13 Part III with cast members Larry Zerner, Paul Kratka, Dana Kimmell, Richard Brooker, and moderator Peter Backe
-Audio Commentary on F13 Part VII with director John Carl Buechler and Kane Hodder (found on the From Crystal Lake to Manhattan box set)

And (as a bonus) not found on any DVD or Blu-ray releases:
-F13 '80 TV spots
-The Man Behind The Mask music video
-F13 Part VIII TV Spots
-JGTH TV spots
-Very RARE trailer to FVJ (done in the style of WWE and using only footage from previous Nightmare films and JGTH, perhaps this was done in the mid-late 90's)
-F13 '09 Trailers and TV Spots

They can be found on Youtube (the F13 '09 teaser CAN be found on the I-VIII deluxe editions as a start-up trailer.

As for the rare FVJ trailer. It used to be on IMDB, but not anymore. I'm not sure where it is, but take my word for it, it exists.

Yes, there are several cuts of the film on dvd. Here's a pic of the ones I have in my collection:

The dvd's for part 1 are in the front. They are the Region 3 release and two of the Region 1 releases. Region 1 also has the true theatrical cut in the 1-8 boxed set (which I also have, but it's not pictured).

Here's a breakdown of the discs for Part 1:

-R1 America- Paramount Home Entertainment - "Hybrid Cut" - This is not the original US Theatrical version. It contains a longer version of Annie's death, but an edited version of Mrs. Voorhee's decapitation.
-R1 Deluxe Edition America- Paramount Home Entertainment - No cuts - "Unrated".
-R1 Ultimate Edition America- Paramount Home Entertainment - No cuts - "R-Rated Theatrical" (95:02 NTSC). DVD restores Mrs. Voorhee's decapitation, but is missing Annie’s longer death from the Hybrid cut.

Region 3 (as seen in my picture):
- R3 Hong Kong- Warner Home Video - No cuts - "Unrated".

You can find a complete breakdown (including all of the extras and features) here:

I've spent my day off very constructively - and by that I mean I've watched the first three Friday the 13th films, pretty much in a row. I'd seen the first two before but it was my first time seeing Part 3. Naturally I opted for the 3D version and I wish I hadn't because it only reminded me of how ugly anaglyph 3D is. It had its share of gimmicky in-your-face moments, though, the harpoon bit being my favourite. A fun film but I think Part 2 is the best of the original trilogy.

I'm looking forward to watching the misleadingly titled The Final Chapter.

You're in for a treat. In my opinion it's the best one. I'd give anything to be able to watch it for the first time again.

I'm still amazed at how grim and mean the movie is. 1-3 had some goofy moments but they all played it fairly straight for the most part and all of them had some pretty good scares and tense moments. Then Part 4 comes along and just cranks up the nasty dial. It's probably the creepiest of the four as a result, but there's just something about the tone of Part 4 that seems very, very dark compared to the other three. Crispin Glover's antics almost fall on dead air, that's how thick the atmosphere is in this one.

Every time I watch it, I want to chase it with the batshit craziness of Part 5 to cleanse the pallet a little.

Yeah Part IV is just soooo goooood. It's chock full of great moments for sure. One of my favorite scenes is when Jason rips Crispens body down from the doorway so he can get through. That's mean and nasty. No regard for human life whatsoever lol

So I watched The Final Chapter last night and you folks will be happy to know that it's my favourite of the series so far. Thoroughly enjoyed it. I'd known that Corey Feldman was in it but I was surprised to see Crispin Glover (who's a magnificent dancer, it must be said) and the lead guy from The Last American Virgin. I admired it for doing something a little different from previous entries and I thought the characters were at their most charismatic and memorable in this one. The death scenes were savage, too, in spite of their briefness.

I'll most likely pop A New Beginning in tomorrow night. I don't know a great deal about it but if I'm not mistaken,
[Show spoiler]Jason's not the killer?

Current ranking:

The Final Chapter
Part 2
Friday the 13th
Part 3

I've seen Jason X once before but it was so long ago that I can barely remember it. I'm intrigued as to what I'll think of it today but I've still got another five sequels to watch before I reach it.
