Walmart may be a used sold as new... third party sellers vary. I already have the steaming 4K copy.

This movie is pretty hard to find and was one I wanted. I’m glad to have it now.

I get (streaming) HBOmax free w/AT&T Fiber Internet
(viewed using the W10 Edge browser).

I bought an RCA HDMI->NTSC adapter some time ago
in order to use a Sony Blu-ray player with my old
Pioneer VSX-D209 receiver (for Dolby Surround).

Recently, for my personal use only, I connected the
RCA HDMI->NTSC adapter to a VHS VCR (sound via
PC audio out) and recorded a movie from HBOmax.

The picture is OK for one off viewing (I may install
some switches so I can easily record movies on VHS).

My question is: Where is the (HBOmax) video format
to NTSC color video conversion happening (does the
HDMI adapter report that an NTSC signal is needed
and the PC does the conversion or what)?
(quick Google searches have so far not yielded this
information)

No, the adapter does the conversion. The audio and composite video from the converter is one way and does not care what it is connected to. A little more info here.

Hi guys, my sister is finally clear of COVID after something like 37 days.

Just needs to build her strength up now.

I hope all stay safe and avoid family members who live elsewhere this thanksgiving.

Good news Steedeel.

Lots of entertainment coming out on streaming and physical media lately, we are all a bit less bored with this bad situation. Next week is "The New Mutants" then soon LOTR/Hobbit 4K.

All signs in my area point to more time at home.

I’m thrilled at the prospect of making a new “working man’s” Kaliedescape system for my home theater.

I’m hoping a new Mac mini will be able to play my Backups with full quality. My current display doesn’t support Dolby Vision so I guess that helps.

Been looking into this myself, just waiting on a new Zappiti based on the RTD1296 SoC. Will be real interested in your Mac mini results.

You have to pay annual fee for Zappiti right?

IIRC not required, they may have some kind of premium but don't recall what it covers. Some folks use their own Synology NAS and install the Zappiti Media Server software on it. This software is supplied free by Zappiti with instructions on how to do it. Interesting they do this because they sell their own NAS Media Server.

Another option is the Zidoo Z9X media player based on the RTD1619DR (here) and your own media server of choice. Some believe it to be one of the best players available. Had/has bugs but Zidoo is releasing fixes pretty often.

Was having a browse through ITunes on my IPad today and noticed that the 4K Crash is down as £2.99 for Pre-order. Is that a mistake?

Edit: Never mind, been changed to £7.99

My quest for a new AVR, or separates solution, is getting frustrating as I find at least one damning review for every single piece of gear that I look at. There are not that many choices among separates, at least within my budget, and most of these include few to no legacy connections; hell, many do not even include a phono input despite costing as much as a kidney.
