. Get prepared to hear buzzes and rattles from your dwelling. Lucy and Blade Runner 2049 would be good ones to start with.

I have ⅓ octave warble tones spaced at ⅓ octave centers starting at 16 Hz in FLAC format if you would like them (1 file).

I have decided to go even more ! I am ordering two pairs of height speakers giving me an even weirder 5.0.4 arrangement.

Now I just have to decide where exactly I want the second pair to go; some recommend placing a pair to the sides of the main listening position while others have them above the main floor standing speakers along the wall with the TV. Which is more betterer?

Poor Lee that last narrative just does not make any sense in the story.

Phineas' house burned down, all his positions destroyed including all his BDs. Why would he care if there is no BD player at Suzy's since he has no BDs to watch? If some of the BDs survived or he bought some after the fire why would he care if he can't watch them at Suzy's but not the Hotel/motel?

It's a Netflix original movie; you have to expect plot holes big enuff to lose a semi tractor trailer in.

I was thinking Hallmark Christmas movie.

Opening scene, Suzy is at the motel bar getting drunk, she has fallen behind on her rent since she lost her job and is now on the verge of getting evicted due to not paying rent. Phineas is there as well, he has been staying at that crappy motel since his home burned down.....

Those RR songs at the end of TP:S3 episodes are going to sound incredible. Trust me!

And Anthony once again comes up short.

Phineas is too enamored with the quality issue of BD. When Suzy tells him it's SVOD or nothing. He chooses nothing because he is impulsive. Head strong. Set in his ways. Then after her door slams shut, he realizes at that moment he has no home to go to. So reality faces him. He has no choice. He checks into a motel with cable TV.

Oh - right - move the goal posts whenever it suits you.

If I recall, it was you who threw a fit because I misspelled your name once. Her name is SUZY! That's what Anthony named her.

Like it's Wonder Woman . . . not Wonder Bird.

Will your overhead view be similar to the one shown here? If so then I would follow Dolby’s guide lines. For 8' walls I would mount the speaker as close to the ceiling as possible. If you will measure from #1 to wall (perpendicular) then I could do some calculations for appropriate placement to have a angle of 45°. Also need ceiling height.

Yeah, that's the diagram that I am basing my ideas upon, but in my odd shaped room the side heights would be closer to the couch, but still in front of it. Speakers would be mounted on the walls right up to the ceiling for both pairs.

Sure hope you enjoy your project. I have always been delighted when other home theater enthusiast got to upgrade or add new equipment to their system. Did you procure a SPL meter?

My new year wishes

1Good health for all and the end of COVID
2Cinemas to get back to business
3Object based media to fail miserably so that audiences won’t be given the tools to alter the length of the content they watch.
4Variable speed playback to keep away from TVs.
54K disc to soar as things get back to normal.

Basically for good stuff to continue and the crap to go away.

Don’t mean to bore you all but OBB has the potential to alter viewing habits permanently in the future.

I am going to rely on my hearing to set my speaker levels until I get the subwoofie. At that time I will get an SPL meter and go all mad scientist on the speaker settings.

The red flag I always look for is the word ‘savings’. I see this a lot when reading about OBB. It’s coming Vilya, make no mistake.

This is not another piece of tech, it’s going to be ‘the tech’. It’s going to be the way media is piped to us. Films, tv, radio, podcasts, shorts etc..

Instead of video and sound being broadcast to us, objects (individual video, audio, graphics, etc..) will be given to the audiences device and arranged in a way that allows the viewer to customise their entertainment to their own preference.
This could be altering the length of the show or film to fit into a fixed time slot, while maintaining the structure of the story.

Say, Susie () only has 1 hour until she needs to start her night shift but she wants to watch Iron Man? She could set the slider to cut out certain parts while maintaining the overall structure of the film. She then has her own curated version of the film, cut to length for her own convenience.
Say Lee (me not Mr Stewart) wants to watch two episodes of Watchmen on Netflix but I only have 80 minutes before family visit. I set the slider to blend two episodes together while shaving 10 or 15 minutes from the shows.

Do you see the danger this represents and what interpretations studios and services would take from many millions of people cutting shows in this way? Why waste money on two hour films when most are slicing content form their evening viewing?
Even worse, imagine the youngsters hacking away at that slider to race through stuff?

It’s just another variation on the variable speed threat without the actual picture and audio distortion but the end result is the same.

This is not a potential development (Object Based Broadcasting), it is actually on its way out of research and development and will be with us in a couple of years.

Box Office: 'Wonder Woman 1984' Slips to $5.5M in Second Weekend, Nears Muted $120M Globally - Hollywood Reporter 1/3/21

Quote:
Wonder Woman 1984 grossed $5.5 million over New Year's weekend as the official holiday season ended and Hollywood bid adieu to its worst year ever at the box office due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.

The superhero sequel has now earned an estimated $28.5 million domestically and $90 million overseas for a muted worldwide tally of $118.5 million.
Quote:
Elsewhere at the box office, Universal and DreamWorks Animation's The Croods 2 placed second domestically, while crossing the $100 million mark globally to finish Sunday with a worldwide cume of $115 million. The animated family film has held in remarkably well.

The world tally for Croods 2 includes a foreign cume of $80.44, led by China ($52.5 million).

It isn't the only animated family title prospering in the Middle Kingdom.

Disney and Pixar's Soul — which debuted exclusively Dec. 25 on Dsney+ in the U.S. on Disney — is building momentum in China, where it earned $13.7 million in its second weekend, well ahead of its first weekend ($5.5 million), for a total there of $25.7 million. Overall internationally, Soul has grossed $32.5 million from the 11 markets where it is playing on the big screen.

Back at the U.S. box office, Universal's News of the World came in third over New Year's weekend with $1.7 million in its second weekend (down 22 percent) for a domestic tally of $5.4 million. Netflix is distributing the Tom Hanks drama overseas.

Monster Hunter placed No. 4 with $1.2 million for a domestic cume of $6.3 million. Sony is handling the film domestically.

Lionsgate's thriller Fatale rounded out the top five with $720,000 (down 6 percent) for a domestic total of $3.1 million.

And it's official: North American box office revenue plummeted 80 percent in 2020 amid the novel coronavirus pandemic and unprecedented theater closures, while global revenue tumbled more than 70 percent.

New Year's weekend, boasting year-end holiday titles, is considered the conclusion of the previous year in terms of the box office.

As predicted, domestic movie tickets sold between Jan. 1 through Dec. 31 generated an estimated $2.3 billion (or $2.68 billion) compared to $11.4 billion in 2019, according to Comscore estimates. That's the lowest showing in at least 40 years. The dramatic fall-off was expected, considering that many cinemas have been closed for more than nine months in the U.S.

Globally, 2020 movie ticket sales are expected to come in between $11.5 billion and $12 billion, compared to 2019's $42.5 billion.

In a first, China supplanted North America as the world's moviegoing market in 2020, generating an estimated $2.7 billion in ticket sales, per Comscore.
