Speaking of streaming and coming in clutch, for some, not all - Peacock releases The Northman (1080p/5.1) tomorrow, which is 4 days before it streets on physical media. I'd go in on that since I am a subscriber, but I blind bought the 4K disc, and should arrive by Monday from GRUV.

What I will be getting today in the mail is Shout Factory's (limited to 1,500 units) of The Ninth Configuration (from a new 2K transfer). Looking forward to that one.

When you're talking Worldwide there are many things more important than Movies or TV Shows, but I was only talking about our small Blu-ray.com World. Yes Studios are pumping out Discs because they see the shrinking Market. So if you are paying attention Studio Budgets are also shrinking, making the Disc Replication meet certain Profit Margins with less 4K and more to BD even DVD. So if you want to watch something recent, and not wait to see if it might come out on Disc......Streaming Providers are Essential for our World!

Do you have any proof of your BS? Answer: No. From your logic we should still have Pontiac's and Oldsmobile's.

Wrong again on the recent content, from here I get to see most of the major stuff and a lot of minor releases and do so for a lot less than viewing via IPTV.

Hey guys don't get your shorts all in a bind, all of us love Movies and TV Shows in our own way. You don't have to be smug about it, just because you think you have a High End HT. Here is Heath from Cereal at Midnight talking about Out of Print Movies. He is a Physical Collector and says not to worry, but brings up some good points about Studios and making Discs. He also says nothing goes away if it's stored Digital. It will come back in some form if the demand is there!

I don’t give a flying fig what Heath thinks.

I’m not being smug, I’m pointing out the fact you are talking nonsense.

I managed to watch all of the movies I have so far. I have The Northman coming next week and Ambulance pre-ordered as well but it'll be nice having a chance to rewatch some of the discs I bought before I had a sound system. Especially looking forward to rewatching Tenet, Mad Max: Fury Road and Blade Runner 2049. I've heard good things about the bass in Blade Runner. Also this probably means I'm not buying enough discs.

I recently enjoyed Tenet on my new system.

It did make me wonder if I could tune the audio better.

I watched Paprika last night and all looked and sounded great again.

Some other really good sound tracks are Dune 2021, Blade Runner 1982 UHD with Atmos, The House With A Clock In Its Walls, Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, The Great Wall, Unbroken (air battle in the beginning).

Can’t speak about others here but we worked damn hard to finance, build, wire, plumb, outfit and decorate our home theater.

Perhaps if you spent as much time and effort trying to improve your A/V as you do trying to discredit disc then you might be able to be smug too!

It gives me great joy to see cheez avenger post about his new subs, Vilya post about his new AVR and TV, gotmule post about his new AVP, player and projector, Brian post about his new projector and player. Same for several other members here.

Sharing - I have posted links to my audio test tones, will give anyone copies of my .CCP files for URC remotes, .VCD drawings of my speakers, schematics and PWA (also in .DXF (Auto Cadd) and graphics (Corel Draw, TIF, PNG and others).

Word.

I think it’s hard not to be smug when you’ve done the work.

I celebrate anyone looking for joy in a hobby. If that means you enjoy movies on a simple system so be it. If it works I’m happy.

At the same time, I didn’t go the extra mile to settle for second rate. I try my best and want the best or as close to it as I’m able.

Couldn't agree more about how much fun it is revisiting older titles and deriving joy from each incremental upgrade to one's HT!

At a time in my life where everything seems to be going faster and faster, I have been as impatient as a school boy "on a promise" waiting for my Zidoo player to arrive so I can check out externally tone mapped DOLBY VISION on my JVC...

For the first time, my son has opted out of a family weekend out of town, choosing to stay home and invite some friends over for some fun in the DADCAVE. A friend will be bringing a PS5 over to game on our 130" screen and they'll watch a few movies.

I've been making all kinds of changes lately and have had my gear in less of a family friendly state, so I spent the better part of yesterday tracking down some bass issues introduced with my latest rounds of software calibration with MSO and my new MiniDSP. I had BLADERUNNER 2049 running while I was tooling around under my first row of seats (rewiring my transducers). When I popped my head up and saw one of my non standard test scenes playing, I almost had tears at how glorious the image was!

In preparation for the Zidoo, I had been experimenting with some custom JVC gamma curves that an enthusiast had uploaded on the Zidoo forums. HOLY CRAP...everytime I think things can't get better, this hobby proves me wrong...

Anyways, I'll be showing my son how to work all the new macros I've setup on the HARMONY remote and then leaving the DADCAVE in his hands for the weekend...I wish I had screened RISKY BUSINESS for him last night instead of THE BANK JOB lol...

Here's hoping it'll all be in one piece when I get back..

where did he point out having a streaming provider is very essential? is it just because he said he watched an old show from the 80's on Peacock? I am planning to grill some octopus tonight, that does not mean I think grilling of octopus are essential, it just happens to be what I am planning to cook and eat.

As for it being essential I completely disgree wityh you. I don't subscribe to any and I have no problem based soley on OTA/FTA and my collection to find way more than enough content to fill any time I fill like sitting in front of my displays.

As to the original content that is the problem with that that point. Like you said they all have original /restricted content. If someone wants access to all of it (which I have no problem as a goal if it is what the person wants out of life, just not who I am in everything I just want enough anything more is useless) but then the person needs to have all the streaming providers because he will always be missing some original (or exclusive) content. So to me it does not make "streaming" any more essential.

Without any judgement on my part people should ask themselves, does what I have now cover all the content time I have. If the answer is yes then they don't need any more no matter if someone else says You don't have X and X is essential to me. If the answer is no then that is time to look at either changing or adding other options.

Hope this is not redundant but markswift (markswift2003 at AVS) has recommended Zidoo settings when used with some models of JVC projectors.

Have done very little testing but with UHD DV content engaging the Dolby VS10 engine on my Zappiti Neo produces a better picture on my Sony projector. The Neo is based on the Realtek RTD1619 like the newer Zidoo's and Dune's.

Yeah, it was his gamma curve that I loaded into my JVC. I believe he had actually made it when he had a unit of my vintage and has continued to use it in his later model... the results in my Nvidia SHIELD are jaw dropping...I can't wait to see what they'll reveal when paired with the custom EIDE made by Mark that is baked into the ZIDOO!
