Watched The Matrix again last night and I had forgot how good the new Dolby Atmos track was. Better than a lot of recent titles with Atmos.

Something I actually agree with. Wow, is it a full moon?

Snap. Working through the trilogy currently. Going to watch the new one Monday. The Matrix looks and sounds fantastic.

But, there has to be negotiation and sometimes negations fail.

or sometimes a finished product is simply canned in favor of a tax break.

I heard this happened to a BatGirl movie.

Quoted - "The film had been shot. Postproduction was almost complete. And then… Warner Bros. Discovery pulled the plug, canning the $90 million production and shelving Batgirl without a theatrical release. There’s no chance of it streaming online, either."

Same here. No social media of any kind.
From what I hear I'm not missing anything.

I have an account here and one on IMDB.
I miss those message boards though.
Not the toxic ones but sometimes very good information over there.

So? How often does this happen? You are taking an isolated incident and trying to make it an every day occurrence.

The original trilogy on 4K is one of the best examples of going back and doing it right from a video and audio standpoint. I know the lobby scene from the first Matrix is and has been a go to demo for some time now, but there are a few scenes that run together in Revolutions that far exceed it. When the machines invade Zion running through Naiobe piloting the ship back to Zion is a top 3 demo for me. It is a bit long, but it has crazy bass extension and sweeps, immersive as hell, and a very active overhead. I asked a friend what they thought of the third Matrix, and they said they hated it. I popped it in and let it rip for the duration of those scenes, and he stood up saying that he has never experienced anything like that and his heart was pounding out of his chest. The 2nd and 3rd are still enjoyable in my mind from a movie standpoint, but it is the audio that makes me appreciate them much more.....still not as much as the first though.

I have visited many of these for a long time now. Some have had name changes or mergers.

From memory so may be errors: From back when; Keith Jack, Stacey Spears, Kris Deering of Secrets magazine discovered CUE (chroma upsampling errors). Keith Jack of Sigma Designs (member of BDA) insisted on Blu-ray having the option to output the frame rate of the source material otherwise we would still have 3:2 pulldown. Took Apple a very long time to output integer frame rates, don’t know if Android has solved this riddle yet (use a frame rate app on my Shield Pro), last I heard Roku does for all except Netflix.
I visit a few of them from time to time, but one site you dont have listed that has found its way into rotation is:

https://geekvibesnation.com

Their movie and tv reviews seem to be more active, and they will review discs that this site doesn't get around to it seems.

Outstanding. I was disappointed with the third one on release, but now, without expectation, I can enjoy it. Like you say, outstanding A/V quality. Amongst the best for me!

Only the popular titles. Plenty of unpopular titles will disappear completely because no streaming service will be interested in paying to license them out. Anything deemed offensive could be removed at any time as well and be completely unavailable to everyone.

Once someone owns a disc it's theirs forever. They don't have to rely on continued popularity and social acceptance to ensure that they can keep watching the movies and TV shows they love.

Not true. Have you looked at the content on Tubi? I don't think you have.

Owning something is not without risk: fire and theft.

I just checked Tubi and they don't have any of the episodes that were removed because they were deemed to be offensive.

Everything that's released on physical media is in the hands of thousands of people. If your copy is destroyed or stolen you can buy a used copy from one of the thousands of other people who still has a working copy.

Everything that's only released on streaming is controlled by one company. If they stop offering it because it is unprofitable or offensive then it instantly becomes unavailable to everyone.

Looked into it at one time but IIRC, no add free option, limited to 720, no immersive audio. I can see where it would appeal to many.

One would assume one has insurance. In NC one must have auto insurance for a valid driver license. A annual auto inspection is required for tag renewal.

It's worth the risk.
It's worth the trouble
It's worth the money

It's just worth it.

My house could burn down or be robbed but surprisingly I guess, I still think it's worth owning and insuring.

Not True, Penguin what have you been drinking, even though Wendell says Digital is different it's not. Yes there are different Formats but they all come from one Master. If one Streaming Provider can't support their Content, then there are others that can. Amazon Prime has most people's Collection, so if they can't support it no one can....But I'm sure they can!

I already offered a response to that with my previous post but that's not what I was referring to in this case. I'm talking about studios removing and modifying movies or TV shows from all providers. This happened when Disney removed a Simpsons episode that featured Michael Jackson, Universal and Sony removed episodes of 30 Rock and Community that featured black face, Disney edited Home Alone 2 to remove the scene at the twin towers, Paramount removed the suicide scene from 13 Reasons Why, and Warner changed the aspect ratio on Batman V Superman.

Undoubtedly more and more things will be deemed offensive in the future and with streaming the studios have the ability to instantly remove them from all sources simultaneously. More and more directors will decide they want to make changes to their movies as well and they can do easily do that with streaming. With physical media they can stop selling offensive movies and shows and can issue new edited versions but they can't ever take the discs away from the people who have already bought them, nor can they prevent people from re-selling their discs to others.

One time? How long ago was that?

So every single DVD, BD and UHD-BD that you own could be replaced? None out of print?
