Default LG: Share Your Custom Display Settings

This thread is intended for members to share their custom picture settings for all LG model TV's.

To help make life easier for others...please try to include (but not limited to):

TV Model Number?
Weather it's an ISF Calibrated setting or Disc calibrated setting?
What Input Connection this setting is used for? (ex. HDMI, Component, Composite etc)
What device is connected? (dvd player, bluray player, cable tv ..etc)
What kind of room lighting you have? (dark, dim, bright etc)
Any key features that are turned on or that should be turned off?

Additional Info: *Calibrate Your HDTV*

*Please do not criticize settings being shared...it is a courtesy to those who cannot afford an ISF calibration or do not own a calibration dvd.

*Please also keep in mind that using someone else's settings may look good but it does not necessarily mean it will be ideal for your viewing pleasure and may require some tweaking.

*It is also NOT recommended for anyone to go into the Service Menu to make any adjustments.

This is my first post...

I have...

LG 42" LCD (42LB5D)
with a Samsung BD-P1400 connected via HDMI

Settings are...

Custom
Color Temp.: Warm
Contrast: 75
Brightness: 44
Color: 50
Sharpness: 55
Tint: 0
Backlight: 50
XD Contrast: OFF
XD Color: OFF ( I have no clue what difference this on makes)
XD Noise: OFF
Black Levels: Low
Ratio: 16:9

I typically watch movies in the dark

I callibrated this using information found on the internet and used sony and rat. disc.

Any opinion on these settings?

I have the same TV. I believe my settings are a little different. When I get home today I am going to plug your settings into user 2 so I can compare. One thing I know is I run the sharpness all the way at zero for blu. I also have the backlight turned down way lower then that currently.

I just tried your settings in comparison to mine. Yours were similar but I switched it a bit to where I liked it a little more.

Color Temp.: Medium
Contrast: 80
Brightness: 45
Color: 70
Sharpness: 45
Tint: 0
Backlight: 30
XD Contrast: ON
XD Color: ON
XD Noise: ON
Black Levels: Low

Mine were pretty close to yours although my backlight is a bit lower. I turned it up a little along with turning the sharpness up a bit too. With my settings it seems the colors are a bit brighter which I think I like better. I am going to oleave this for a couple days and then play with it a little more.

Default LG 52 inch settings?

Hi ... does anybody know the optimal settings for the 52LG70? It is a 52 inch LG LCD that displays 1080p 120Hz. I can't find this info anywhere, so any ideas would be great. The TV will play DirectTv HD and Blu-ray.

Thanks in advance,

brian

It is in the sub menu beside the picture. Just go back one menu and I think it is the 2nd or 3rd option down.

Default Attention All Racers!!!!!

I just recently picked up a 52LG50. Which is a 52" LCD by LG.

Looks great, but Im struggling a bit with settings when watching NASCAR. I do not have HD yet, DIRECTV wants $200 extra to upgrade which I feel is robbery, but thats another story. Anyway, when the camera shots are close, it looks fantastic where I have it set, but from a distance, very blurry or "mushy". At any rate, not very good definition. Im also experiencing color bleeding on some of the brighter cars such as Menards bright yellow scheme. The bleeding doesnt seem to be from a color level, because as I turn it down, the color is still bleeding, just very dull.

Im not sure what to change, because as I said, when the camera shot is close on the field, everything looks great, but from a distance, not as stimulating. Even from cameras mounted on the wall, I can see the grain of the asphalt right in front of the camera, but a few feet down the track, its a blur of grey. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks

FriggnDiggn.....EaglePC has posted his settings for the same model TV as yours just a few posts up. His is just a smaller version (42"). The TV's should be exactly the same otherwise.

Try his settings and see how they work. Remember also that each input will require its own calibration settings. (ie, the tv input, dvd, blu-ray etc will all need to be done separately)

Good Luck.

10 4 Ill give it a shot

From "IRE" down, I get lost, I dont think I have settings like that.

OK, I found the "IRE" stuff, but I dont have..100....90...80..70..etc. Just a red green blue other than that its the same. Looks pretty good, but I noticed they have the backlight contrast and sharpness pretty high. Ive been trying to leave the backlight as low as I can get it, as I ve heard it saves power consumption, and also overall life of the set.
