With this movie not doing that great in the box office, what's the possibility Universal may end up cancelling the 4K Blu-ray & just release it on standard Blu-ray (and DVD) only?

When you search for Dolittle on IMDB, click RDJ's name, and you learn and realize that he was nominated for an Oscar for doing blackface just 11 years ago.

Second expensive bomb for Universal following the CATS train wreck from last month.

Not good.

The fact that you had high hope, I assume you didn't see any of those awful trailers?

Yes, this is a massive bomb, but I feel like we all should have seen this coming.

"The studio’s decision to tinker with a nearly finished film delayed its release by nine months as it commissioned script rewrites and hired two new directors to help with about three weeks of additional photography, according to people familiar with the production. The goal of these measures, these people said, was to craft a sillier movie more likely to appeal to younger moviegoers and overseas audiences."

"After test-screening Mr. Gaghan’s initial version of the movie, Universal worried it wasn’t lighthearted enough to connect with children and families around the globe, according to people familiar with the production. The studio decided the movie needed more computer-generated animals and more laughs, the people said, and called in filmmakers and screenwriters with more experience in the genre. They said these included directors Chris McKay of “The Lego Batman Movie” and Jonathan Liebesman of “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.”"

I never watch trailers, too many spoilers.

I saw it coming. With the only preview I saw.

Dr. Doolittle seems to be a "no-no" for film success. First the bomb musical (some good songs by Bricusse/Newley) in the late 60s and then the Eddie Murphy travesties....Now Robert Downey Jr. adds to his less-than-stellar recreations of the Great Holmes with this piece of misconceived nonsense.

That initial cut sounds interesting, it's a shame we'll never see it.

The Eddie Murphy Dr. Dolittle films were pretty big hits.

My kids are young and are excited to see this. I don't really pay too much attention to reviews for clean, family films these days. For instance, 'The Art of Racing in the Rain' had horrible reviews, but it is a great family movie for older kids (due to death being a main topic).

This will provide some laughs and a bit of adventure. It's nice to see something other than sorcery and princess movies for kids.
